Well, I went and got another car. Needed something with more cargo room than a coupe for convention trips, and the ability to go more than 20 minutes without the tranny going out on me...
So I did what I never thought I'd do... Bought a German luxury car XD
1991 Mercedes-Benz 300D Turbo Diesel, built like a tank (it was parked INSIDE a 2 story barn that collapsed on top of it), and fuel efficient (diesel)

How did this work out for you? Esp. the maintenance costs?
People who complain about RWD in the snow simply don't know how to drive one. FWD cars have a tendency for the front end to cut loose when accelerating or braking in corners. Anything short of 4WD is a compromise.
Also, I recommend actual snow tires, not all seasons. Snow tires are made of rubber that remains softer at lower temps, and have a more aggressive tread.

Still driving it, minus six months it sat waiting for an impossible-to-find coolant tank. Expensive to fix, but durable and fuel efficient.
As for snow driving, I've only ever driven RWD during winter, either this or my previous car (an Omega), I also have an AWD Outback now, but it's currently sitting on stands while I wait on some brake pieces for it.
