Cute Boys, Cuter Dragons
I need to re-watch these movies
I think this might be the first of a new genre of ‘spite based fanart.’ This picture was the result of a lecture I was in where the presenter essentially argued that fanart was inherently exploitative of the artists who drew it. He then went on to argue that any enjoyment derived is just the artists falling into the system and being ignorant of their exploitation.
As a silent protest, I immediately rejigged the picture of my rider I was drawing into a How to Train Your Dragon fanart. And you know what? I enjoyed myself. In fairness, that is probably the most rebellious thing I’ve ever done.
As a side note: Dragon Harness is still hard.

From a professional illustrator about a similarly self-indulgent (though not fanarty) image: "This painting is pure frivolous cute with no redeeming social value whatsoever. My old drawing prof, a tough and humorless woman of great skill and gimlet eye, would die a thousand deaths. AND I REGRET NOTHING!"
