I'm sure I'm not the only one that has thought this, what what ever it made an amusing comic for Inktober. Fun fact, the voice actor who voiced Zelgadis for most of the anime is the voice of Connie's dad on Steven Universe.

I'm not sure how I feel about Mighty Magiswords. I watched an episode and it wasn't bad, but not sure something I'd get into. The two main characters really do look like Gourry and Lina though, and I'm sure that's deliberate. I did not know Crispin Freeman was in Steven Universe, but he's in almost everything nowadays.
Mighty Magiswords is... Well, Grey Delise carries the entire thing as Vambre, the Lina parody. She's hilarious, she's having fun in her roll, but everything else is really hyper and fraught and at times a little *too* wacky.
Initially I felt that since the whole thing's a satire of how the fantasy genre over-stresses the value/importance of magical swords, her design looking like a palette swap of Lina was fitting, but OTOH, I feel like it may just be that the creator felt like she looked cool and took her design without much forethought.

Yes Vambre really does carry the show. I think part of it is that she is unique in the cartoon action/comedy ganre. The dopey guy adveturer is old hat but having the girl be just as nuts and having them feed each other's crazy really makes the show more enjoyable. And I'm pretty sure her bare legs issue is a joke on the fact that in almost all fantacy adventures the women all seem to have bare legs.
Pfft... y'all are lightweights. "Mighty Magiswords" is just the kind of goofy, rapid-fire, hell's-a-poppin' gags-within-gags palate-cleanser the fantasy-genre needs... yeah, it's not "Full Of The Feels" like "Adventure Time," but "Adventure Time" was general weirdness that slowly peeled back to reveal a sincere emotional core underneath. "Mighty Magiswords" has no such lofty aspirations- it's a "Let's See How Silly We Can Make The Concept Of Enchanted Swords" gag-fest. But it's still awesome... hell, some of those silly enchanted swords are fun characters in their own right, whether you're talking about the childlike Zombie Pumpkin Magisword or the drill-instructor-bellowing Taunting Jester Magisword or even Dolphin Magisword, who Prohyas treats as a beloved pet.
I'm glad this went to a full-length series. It's a good Western "Spiritual Successor" to "Slayers" or "Those Who Hunt Elves" as fantasy-comedy shows go.

well i was using them to recreate the cover to the Slayers laser-disc i own and in that pic Gourry has his sword over his shoulder so i had to also give the guy a weapon. As for why i picked that one it stood out to me and I don't know really any of the cannon of the show to know what he would and wouldn't use.
Ground-Pound is one of the Magiswords that Prohyas and Vambre use interchangeably, see... the Warrior Siblings (yes, their actual surname is "Warrior") do have personal Magiswords. To whit-
Prohyas: Dolphin, Accordion, Excaliburger
Vambre: Tomato, Oinkus Oinkus
Dolphin and Tomato were actually given to Prohyas and Vambre by their mother, incidentally. Which is why most "hero shots" of the Warrior Siblings have them carrying those Magiswords.

It reminds me of Slayers too! I have been watching the minisodes leading up to the premier and thought they were good. In fact because of Mighty Magiswords I have started watching Slayers again. I have a lot of series on DVD and every morning before I get to work I watch one episode of a cartoon with my morning Cheerios.
