I actually disagree! I think SFA is perfectly fine as a Starfox game. It was such a fundamental change that was everything I wanted in a video game about animal characters, which was to be able to control them on foot. And I think that made Star Fox Assault really strong as well. At least with me, anyway. Of course that's only a small part as to why I love about the game as an SF title but... I don't know. I'm really glad SFA is a thing.
But I have a super huge bias because SFA was my first Starfox game and I've been playing it since I was a kid. XD So anything I say about it can be taken with a grain of salt.
Not saying SFA doesn't have it's flaws, though. They are glaring to say the least.

Ahhh get these nostalgia boners out of my face xD jk
But in all seriousness bias is a strong thing and clouds all our visions. For original fans of the star fox series it was a departure we were not expecting, we started the game in with a character we had no idea who she was and it alienated returning players so it makes sense many would be upset. Back when games where games were bought because of series name we expect a star fox game which meant dog fights, space ships and boss battles. What we got was a completely different experience and I think that's where all the hate comes from. As for Star Fox assault it was personally my favorite game in the series... it had a good story, an amazing soundtrack, the arwing sections were perfect the only bad part where the wonky controls with the ground levels they felt awkward and a bit clunky but I did like the over all feel of the levels, especially in multiplayer I loved jumping out of the arwing and just shooting with my rocket launcher for kicks. Star foxxx assault was my favorite but it wasn't the best game in the series that honor goes to Star fox command *crikets*

Star Fox Adventures is a good Star Fox game, no matter what you say! And how dare people like something you don't. Also, I've been playing since Assault, and then after I went to playing Adventures, I really came to appreciate it. Especially since I didn't grow up with stuff like 64 and bias and what not.
