well there are different types of Beholders, but yes a living Beholder would be a bit more fleshy and rounder

true, only the Undead Beholders drool that much cause they can;t control the saliva producing, since they are missing lips and such

The lighting in this is excellent, and I really mean that. You have such a good grasp on it, I am thoroughly jealous. The detail that sticks out particularly to me is the light effect on the quilted tunic. Also, the beholder is quite eye-popping (hmmm) in its half light, half darkness...and it's teeth look pretty menacing. I would NOT wanna be there! Haha!

But yeah, wonderful job, as usual. I'm really impressed with this one!

What stands out most to me in this picture is the statue in the light... compared with the thief and the beholder, it looks jolly!

Nobody's going to worship a god of thieves who's all grim and nasty. So yeah, laughing child/rogue imagery in the icon, when the mortals are pretty grim.

More the "old and not especially sympathetic" part than the "has multiple eyes and floats" part.

Once again your illustration seems to demand an adventure be built around it... :)
