This was about eight hours of work, including the time it took to walk my happy ass to the closest store that had thread (Walgreens, by the way, for anyone who runs out of or needs thread in the middle of the night). I also ran out of the material I used to make the mask, so the strap is coming later.
I've been wanting to make one of these for a LONG ass time, and figured it was about damned time I make one, since I finally had a little bit of time to do non-work/school stuff. Surprise, I'm going to be wearing this while at work, which is on campus. XD
If anyone wants the template, I used this and tweaked it accordingly: http://adriaandippenaar.blogspot.co.....blog-post.html

The masks were that shape because they put scented herbs and such in the beaks. At the time, people thought that the plague was caused by bad scents, because the people who had it would get black pustules that, when they burst, smelled like putrefaction because, hey, it was exactly that. The plague doctors' suits completely covered them from head to toe, which prevented them from getting bitten by bugs which actually transmitted it. So the plague doctors in their suits and masks never got the plague, perpetuating the idea that it was communicable via bad aromas.
Okay, so here's what I did, step for step:
1. Print each image in the link on 8.5x11" paper (two copies of the first one as that's the side of the mask)
2. Fold the second and third images in half along the ends of the lines
3. Cut out all pieces from the paper
4. Tape the paper pieces together (the shaded areas on the large side pieces will be covered by the forehead section)
5. Trim each piece as needed, taping them back together until they fit your face
6. Trace onto craft foam and cut those out
7. Use hot glue along the seams and overlaps
8. (Optional) Make the circular eye pieces and hot glue those as well
9. (Optional) Use thread along the seams for extra details
If you do get one made, link me to it so I can see! :3
