This photo is from a sketching trip my class took to the Bramble Park Zoo in Watertown, SD in May 2006
Similar to the Mice, this Barn Owl had a sign declaring him, "The Farmer's Friend." This was during the day when he'd normally be asleep. So you are looking at him through a dark window that lets visitors see him from outside. Which explains why this picture is so crappy.
