"I Remember his smile, a cheerful smile that he shared
with everyone he passed on the street.
Whenever he would stroll on by, the people
of Colmaton would give a smile in kind; it was
such a beautiful treasure to behold, shared
with welcoming arms to one and all.
And, like a flickering candle's flame,
what was once warm and good
was snuffed out and brought to
the cold and despair.
And thus came the rain and the clouds
and washed away his smile and
brought him to tears.
And thus the people of Colmaton bore witness
to the ruination of that poor child
when the rain would not cease
and when they could no longer see
what they had loved and cherished.
On that day when he had lost someone he cherished,
the city had lost something that was pure and good.
And thus I loom and linger and shelter him
Helpless to catch his tears and comfort him
Left only to witness his despair
when this world was so cruel to him
And...I could hardly bear it."
