A commissioned full illustration for a story, was so cool to have an opportunity to work on something I don't normally necessarily draw that much (buildings/rooms/architecture etc. and humans too) Happy with the result and the scene was very inspiring to paint too :)
The paintings on the wall are from Wikimedia Commons/Public Domain, wanted to use some real paintings to give it an even more authentic look :D
Got quite a few big illustrations finished, uploading them shortly!

Lovely work. I'm digging the rich, deep color palette. Very cozy and inviting. And the super cute fox certainly helps. :) Something about the perspective is bugging me a little bit (here comes my inner photographer again!) -- feels like the image is leaning a bit to the right, particularly the roofline in/above the doorway in the back. It's tilted ever so slightly, so it all feels just slightly off-balance to me. Not enough to hinder the image, but just something I noticed. Fantastic work on this, regardless. :) Really well done!
Oh yea good catch, it is actually on purpose and it was originally even more tilted but I decided against it (can be seen in the tumblr WIP post) as it did seem too much. Probably should have just straightened it out completely but for some reason I just wanted to give it a little bit of.. asymmetry when I started painting I guess! XD
But thank you!! ^_^
But thank you!! ^_^
I figured that might be the case. Like I said, that's the photographer in me. I've been trained since day one more than a decade ago that "if there is a horizon or strong horizontal line, it better be level!" I know that's not true in all cases, but it's one of those things that I can't unlearn no matter how hard I try. ;) Lovely work on this!
