You've Been a Fool
Finally, after many years of thinking about it and then doing nothing, I've done a drawing for Halloween.
It looks like we're going to be doing literally NOTHING for Halloween this year so it's just as well that I at least took a stab at drawing one of my favorite horror villains, Leatherface. I haven't drawn the big lug for several years now, so I wasn't sure I could do it.
This went through a lot of changes. Initially I was just going to draw him fairly accurately to his 1974 original appearance, holding a saw in one hand, and a sledge in the other, as I feel like the Sledgehammer is the true star of the film so I feel like it should often be included. Seriously, the first sledgehammer death, also the first death in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre film, is possibly the best murder scene in all of horror films. It's unrelentingly disturbing yet curiously understated, ruthlessly brutal and yet teasingly brief. Anyway...so that idea was eventually scrapped. Because I was able to decide what to do with his legs in the earlier pose, I decided to have him running instead, and only give him the chainsaw. I also decided that instead of trying to make him look original, I'd kind of make him my own.
When first applying a full head of hair to the mask, I sort of liked how it looked when I'd only added the first few strands. Later, after giving him all of the hair, I decided to return to that look, giving him very little hair and showing off more of the scalp-portion of the skin mask. The bandaging on the arms and hands is for two reasons. One, because I just like the look of bandaged wrists, especially on extremely violent characters, as to me it makes it look like they're so out of control that even their own body isn't safe. The second reason is that it's a slight homage to Piggsy from the infamous game Manhunt, whom I briefly considered drawing instead. For those unaware, Piggsy is one of the closest approximations to the Leatherface experience you can have in gaming, both characters showing a very similar demeanor and design.
Also probably one of my better attempts at a chainsaw.
Undecided on whether to color him or enjoy a nice sketch piece, I decided to leave the original uncolored. Instead, I'm thinking of doing a digitally colored version sometime soon. All in all, this was a nice break from all the anthro work and porn I've been doing as of late.
