check out the reveal for yourself https://youtu.be/f5uik5fgIaI
If you dont want to listen..
I think the hardware so far is pretty cool! SHOCKER!
Actually things I forgot to mention that I like that they did. They did away with unnecessary tech on the tablet itself.
There is NO DAMN CAMERA which means no more virtual reality crap.

I'm also in the boat that was definitely pleased by the pitch trailer, this honestly looks like what the Wii U should've been. Instead of feeling gimmicky, this feels wonderfully practical.
Personally the two key things for me is will it be as versatile as they show in the trailer, and what's the battery life? For if they can pull it off & have a good battery life, this could very well do gangbusters since a legit portable console is one heck of a selling point.
Naturally it's all a wait n' see situation, but they're off on the right foot with a pitch that makes it clear what they're aiming for.

the benefits i saw with the console is 2 things i se wrong with previews and this generation of consoles
convenience is all gone
instance this you can take anywhere and play, thats convenient instead of have a handheld and stationary console, other is cartridges instead of optical with now actually becomes relevant again because of the issue with blurays are so unbelievably slow to read data of and mandatory installations, and patches upp its own ass, se mafia 3 for the epic fiasco of wait 24 hour to play the bloody thing.

Pretty much agree on everything. Price, Battery and durability is my only worries, but otherwise does it sound like an amazing concept, especially since I travel home to my parents a lot and hate that I wouldn't be able to bring my console to play the games I like on the trip... and now I can!
agreed on all this daigo but for me at the moment, it's pointless to even get a console when i have a gaming pc. so many games on the pc then any console i've owned so far. so we'll see what this nintendo brings, cause from the games that they've showed in their little pitch release, seems like they are finally gonna be some what more open to put more games into their console instead of solely on their own games like just mario and their other known games ya know?
how did i miss this? XD Anyway , I with you on the PC part. Im going straight PC for more games nowadays. But for me its not about PC games or such. Nintendo has always been a console thing and im a fan of their games when done right. Also its portable! so i can take it with me and play is the biggest draw to me. I cant take my PC with me everywhere i go.
Its not ME thinking its not successful. I think when you lose over half your sales growth you achieved with a new installment counts as a failure. This logic of "nintendo said the 3DS was a success" is not valid. Any company can say anything about their own product. Doesn't make it true. Nintendo says Zelda 2 was a failure...even though it sold more than Zelda 1. Nintendo says the Virtual Boy was a great System, even though it tanked. By your logic, the Vita is also successful because Sony says it is, even though its bombed.
Im not arguing with you that the 3DS has done better to get itself out of the deep end. it just so happens they are around GBA sales numbers

by that logic the GBA is a failure because it didn't surpass the Original GB in sales. Wow, in that case, every console ever is a failure compared to the ps2. You're not always going to hit the same numbers, and when you sell at least HALF as well as your predecessor I think you came off pretty well. Some things are more successful then others but that didn't make it NOT successful. When you utter Wii U and 3DS and in the same sentence call them failures when the 3DS did quite well for itself, that's coming off as arrogant.
Not saying the 3DS couldn't do better, but it WASN'T a failure. Especially when compared to the Wii U.

Dont try to confalte the original Gameboy sales with the Gameboy advance when when one of them lasted over a Decade with multiple iterations to keep the system alive. The GBA had essentially a 5 year or so lifespan and sold well over Half of what the original Gameboy did. The 3DS has been out for 6 years and just about made HALF of the gameboy and hasnt reached GBA numbers in the same time span. Why are you trying to and make it out more than it is? That's like saying Windwaker was still a success when it was the WORST selling Console zelda today (or is it skyward sword now...Im not sure). STOP IT. the 3DS is getting by, and its the ONLY thing making Nintendo any kind of revenue. They HAVE to support it because they will lose more without it.
Also STOP conflating different consoles. The PS2 succeeded the PS1 and is a massive console success. In this case you can only compare PS2 to the PS3 or PS4. Are they as successful? Not even close. The PS3 was a Failure and was last place last generation. Now compare the PS4 to PS3. So far the Numbers are basically about the same for PS4 over the 3yr span, and is currently ahead in the console race. So it could Possibly do better than the PS3. Dont know until then. The Wii is now the second most successful console under the PS2 and is Nintendo most successful console. So Nintendo Succeeded themselves. Im not saying things are failures compared to OTHER companies. Thats not the issue. And besides that Nintendo naturally has a monopoly on Handheld gaming as a whole. So ANYTHING they release handheld wise is gonna be a money maker from lack of competition. The PSP was an actual competitor for once and did really well, but then they threw the Vita out and Nintendo took back control XD. You can only compare Nintendo's numbers with themselves. When things sell WORSE than the predecessor...thats Not good! Especially with inflation and rising costs.
When you look at the actual numbers and the history and DONT see how both the 3DS and the Wii U are their own respective failures, THAT is arrogant.

I'm comparing different consoles to get a point across. No one, NO ONE, can get continually better numbers in today's market. Customers are finiky, and can change on the dime. There's absolutely no reason why the 3DS should have sold less then a DS. It's superior, it has amazing games, and many other aspects. The issue, the market changed because handhelds where now competing with MOBILE GAMING! Because the market changes you can't EXPECT the same numbers as your previous system, you can hope, but, you can't get them.
Stop making it sound worst then it really is, when it isn't. Saying the Wii U is a failure and comparing that to the 3DS is WRONG when the system couldn't even reach HALF the sales. Heck the Wii U didn't even make a 1/100th of the Wii's sales.

what do you mean no one can get continually better numbers? Nintendo was CONTINUALLY getting better numbers with their handhelds (while their consoles sales were continually decreasing in sales) up until the 3DS and how poorly it was received. This was the first time (since the virtual boy) that a nintendo handheld took a huge dive in sales. Stop trying to justify lower sales. Adding in purely subjective issues like good games (to you) and saying superior power doesn't instinctively mean it should have sold better. If that was the case then the Wii Shouldn't have been as successful over the 360 and the PS3. There are plenty of reasons why the 3DS didn't and doesn't sell as well as the original DS. It was super expensive (until nintendo forced a price cut and sold the system at a loss), the useless 3D aspect that no one cared for and was also Warned to parents that could hurt their children's eyes. The lack of any real new games for the system for a good while that wasn't rehashes and remakes. the games were more expensive. And just not good games. So do not say there was absolutely no reason because there was. Also don't compare Mobile gaming to handheld gaming. Those are two completely different markets as well and Nintendo has gone down saying they aren't worried about mobile. Also on that note, you want to say mobile gaming is a threat then why did the original DS do so well if mobile gaming was relevant even when the original DS was alive. Its because they don't connect. You are just throwing points out there to try and justify these numbers that aren't connected. Now Nintendo is thinking of going mobile but mostly to make cheap things. they aren't gonna push mobile, only use it as a source for advertisement for the real deal.
Im not making it sound worse than it is. The numbers don't lie. You just don't like the FACT that the 3DS is (to date) at the bottom of the handheld line for nintendo.
your point doesn't change my point at all. Its completely subjective. I'm giving you numbers and statistics and all you are saying is "I don't consider it a failure" and "its not doing as bad as the Wii U". Where as I'm saying both are their own failures. The 3DS failed to capture the true numbers of their handheld market and the Wii U Just tanked. But you take issue with that because one isn't as bad as the other, WHICH IS NOT MY POINT. I know the 3DS isn't as bad as the Wii U. I AGREE WITH YOU. I know the 3DS is doing better than it was and saved itself from being a complete failure like the Wii U and the Vita. I AGREE WITH YOU.
Do you not agree with me, after sharing the numbers and stats, that the 3DS is the worst selling Nintendo handheld to date? Do you not see how it has failed to capture the audience they once had before? Taking out how you feel about the system, can you not see or agree how poorly it has done? Even if its succeeding over the PS vita you cant ignore how desperate Nintendo was to make the 3DS finally not be a financial flop. They cut prices (within the same year!) , they stopped making games for the Wii U to make more games for the 3DS, they made a model of the 3DS WITHOUT the 3D so more parents would buy it for their kids. The 3DS was going the way of the virtual boy until nintendo saved it. Can you at least agree with that?
if you cant then we are just going to be going in circles

Probably late to the party, but...the Switch does have a camera.. They're most definitely going to go after virtual reality and augmented reality with the system, and I'm expecting a headset contraption like the new Sony one, where you just slide it into the slot and put it on your face.
Well, they haven't utilized it yet, but there's a patent that was made for the headset accessory, and AR is super low-fi in terms of hardware requirements. Additionally, not sure if you've experienced it, but the high-def rumble features and the ridiculous level of motion control plus the shape and insane comfort of the joycons are made for the VR experience.
Nintendo's put all their eggs in this basket, and....I honestly kinda hope they succeed, 'cause let's be honest. Vive and Occulus are pretty neat, but...Nintendo's quite known for innovation, and they're really garnering the 3rd party support here this time around.
