Pakkun lizards are usually just a nuisance. They're usually pretty small and while they certainly have the ability to swallow things whole, it's rare that they're able to do so to anything big. A good adventurer can just kick and punch a bit and the beast coughs them right up. It's rare that any of them get a human sized meal that they can keep down and the numbers stay in check.
But every so often, you get a big one. A pakkun lizard bigger and stronger than the rest. Maybe they managed to gobble a human and all the nutrients made them really big. Maybe they were just born larger. But they go from 'annoyance' to terror. They're big, durable and their bellies can take all the wiggles and squirms that usually would get an adventurer coughed up. When there are pakkuns spotted around a village, an adventurer's usually called to clear them up. When a big pakkun's spotted around the village, the people leave. Quickly. And that's if they spot the thing early. More commonly, a trader or relative will wander into the village some time later to find it abandoned, no trace of its occupants.
Usually pakkuns don't seem to have cat ears or baseball caps, but this one seems to think it looks stylish with them. Maybe the feline in its mouth would agree if it wasn't busy begging for its life. And even if it did agree, the large pakkun doesn't seem to be listening.
