He scoffed lightly, lowering his head in what seemed like the slightest bit of shame. Eyes closing; he wondered why he even dared don this form; there wasn't danger that needed dealt with which this form would aid him in grace and speed; nor was it actually safe to show himself like this outside of his homeland. He had to bite back the notion of feeling like a hypocrite; though he knew how he scowled at those of his kin that dared present themselves like this at all times.

It was a quite sound that brought him from his reverie; turning his head upwards slightly to look Koi in the eyes. The other made the sound again; somewhat choked as if he couldn't breathe or speak. More than likely the latter; though the former was quite possible. The thought brought the quirk of a grin to his lips, though it faltered and slipped away as quickly as it had come. He waited a long moment before finally breaking what he felt was a heavy silence.

"...Koi?" his eyebrows knitted together slightly in worry.

Koi made the noise once again; cheeks turning a delicate shade of pink. Finally adverting his eyes, he cleared his throat and sighed. It took a brief few seconds before he spoke.

"Finn... you're... this is beautiful... Why don't you let yourself be like this all the time?" he glanced up as Finn shifted out of the cloak of feathers he near constantly wore; revealing the leather armor beneath.

"... It's too obvious what I am when I look like this. Perhaps to some I look like a pretty bird; but enough of the wrong people know what this form implies my species to be. It puts me, and my kin in danger. I only use this form if the situation is dire enough to call for it..."

"Doesn't that mean you're stronger like this? Why live in fear?"

"My parents died at the hands of people that want to enslave and destroy us. And their deaths only instilled the rules they bound me to. This form puts more than I in danger... Though many of my kind don't care about it. Too many are too vain and too selfish to realize how their actions affect our dying breed..." he frowned. "It's because I trust you that I will let you see me like this; even though it's far from safe here..."

Koi frowned, stepping close enough to nuzzle into his chest much like a feline would and sigh in apology. Wrapping his arms around the other, he ran a hand through the short white locks.

"I'm sorry, Finn... I shouldn't have asked you to show me..."

"No... You needed to see; it was selfish of me to hide it... But for both our sakes; let's hope I don't have to don it again for quite some time."

8D; So I say I'm not going to do art of either of them for quite a while, and then... I do art of Finn of course. Because I rock like that. I really debated on putting this one up; since well... I'm somewhat protective of Finn, and I dunno why. And this form is very special. 8U But since  kyoeatbaby insisted and I told her I would upload it... Here you go.

Excerpt up there is typed on a whim and would probably be more detailed and MUCH longer, and different if I actually typed out Finn and Koi's story. I'm still not going to tell you guys what he is, but he's NOT a peacock. So on here you know he's some sort of phoenix, thanks to me categorizing it. However, I won't tell you what kind of phoenix he is just yet. lol I will tell you that he's technically the prince of his people though. Lucky him.
