Yet another teaser! Further down on the whiteboard for chapters not yet written. Marked Mature for the bloody cerebrospinal fluid and freshly removed brains floating in jars filled with MediGel. Its technically gore as well so that's another reason. Reading the "audio log" transcript below may help with what's going on "behind the curtain" so to speak. :)

Research log, November 1st, 2249. Mt. Hideaway Research & Development Laboratories, Kanto. Dr. Amanda Goro, M.D. recording.
The two new test subjects continue to interest me. It is like I have been presented with a golden ticket of sorts. Finally, it may be possible to leave Mt. Hideaway. After two hundred years, we may finally be able to see what awaits in the world beyond. All these test subjects over the centuries had to come from somewhere.
It took almost a whole day for the positronic matrices I installed in the female Meowstic "twins" to adapt to the biologies and physiologies of their hosts. I used the same procedure as the Med-Pod would and the same hardware. The subjects were equipped with a mark two positronic matrix, a mark seven artificial heart, a mark four reinforced artificial spine, and a mark six micro Tesla generator. The Tesla generators were activated and the surgical sites were closed (I even shaved off the neck ruff of Subject 1B so we could tell them apart along the way). And aside from the required adaptation period, that was that. We were expecting to have two new worker drones inside of a day.
But that is not what happened.
When the skinvelopes finally awakened from their adaptation period, the first thing they did was speak. Not the guttural one or two word blurts of the other drones, but clear full sentences in perfect Kanto Standard. Subject 1A was confused and a little panicked by her new condition and seemed to be trying to make sense of things. Subject 1B on the other hand was more sheepish like a little girl who was caught with her hand in the cookie jar. Then it dissolved into some kind of argument over 1B's dislike of being named "Id". These actions and behaviors were not the expected results of the lobotomite procedure. At least not from that outcast's second-rate surgical MedPods.
Amazement aside, I will admit to being amused by the interactions and behaviors of the new test subjects. Subject 1A screwed up her face in what I believe was an expression of forced concentration, all whilst staring at the nearby trunk that I had their belongings placed into. When a few seconds of nothing passed, 1A tried two more times and inevitably gave up. Subject 1B also tried with the exact same results.
The source of my amusement in the above situation is that they were unaware that having a positronic matrix residing where their organic brains once were means their psychic abilities no longer function. I am pretty sure they tried to use telekinesis to open the trunk and were distressed by their total and utter failure to utilize even something as basic as telekinesis. I had to mute my voice modulator to avoid giving away my observation location. It shouldn't be a surprise that a psychic type would be distressed at being stripped of their innate mental abilities. This is the first time I've seen such a reaction as this however.
And then came the exploring. Most skinvelopes fresh from the lobotomite procedure sit around like empty husks until their positronic matrices have activated the maintenance custodian subroutines, at which point they shamble outside to begin their programmed duties. And as I have mentioned, these two are far more higher functioning than our labor force. It is possible that either the programming failed to activate or it wasn't installed at all. I spent ten minutes observing their self inspection and discovery of the surgical sites around their skulls, chests, and backs. The looks of concern and alarm were somewhat interesting.
I have attached the biometric readings to a detailed observational report for the rest of the Workshop to review, including a recording of their self-awareness and ability to continue to think and act on their own in spite of being separated from their respective brains. My fellow Workshop scientists should find plenty of interesting data points to theorize about, especially in regard to how this could help us regain physical bodies and escape this prison.
Personally, I have one theory for the phenomena that I am still observing with subjects 1A and 1B. The Tesla generator in their positronic matrices was designed to produce enough self-sustaining power to operate said matrices and also provide enough surplus energy to operate their organic bodies via nerve impulses. However, we had to modify the Tesla generators to account for the artificial hearts and spines. These modifications may have affected the radio transmitters in their matrices and, on some level, allowed them to retain some vestige of a connection to their organic brains to receive thoughts. This is, of course, unproven and I regretfully admit that many of my theories have been discarded as wrong before by Dr. Tyne. I would be remiss if I did not at least offer my theories on how these two lobotomites can still converse and function as if nothing is amiss.
As for their brains; they will be regaining consciousness within their modified Mr. Capable bodies in the next ten minutes. I will be attending to them shortly. Both the new guests and the test subjects will have questions, and I have deemed it easier to discuss the situation with the guests first before I introduce myself to the new lobotomites in person.

Usually it goes so far south that either there's too much damage done to the brain cavity/brain for the victims to function properly or the brain is completely destroyed along the way. The result is an ambulatory being with the mental capacity of a turnip, following the directives of its implanted computer-for-a-brain. In this instance, things went "horribly right" during the process and not only were their brains left completely intact, the programming wasn't installed and they could "think" for themselves.
As for how much it will backfire, we'll have to see.
