Brainstorming Knight & Rogue ideas.
There may not be a lot to talk about here, but I would appreciate any sort of constructive criticism from a gameplay standpoint. It's only concept art and ideas for a game that may never see the light of day, but I'm a bit passionate about this stuff.
So I'll explain how I envision Knight & Rogue to play. Tipsy while writing this, so forgive me, I'll try my best:
Imagine the likes of a NDS Castlevania game, I suppose more specifically Portrait of Ruin, or Order of Ecclesia since the maps are split into levels instead of one large map. You have four characters to play as: Knight, Rogue, Mage and Cleric, each with their own unique abilities. A few examples being Knight can break through certain walls, Rogue can double jump, etc. Single player mode allows you to switch through all 4 characters on the fly, while multiplayer locks you into the character you selected. The game would be possible to play and beat without ever switching characters, though required for certain secrets and completion bonuses. There may be some areas where teamwork is required, akin to Little Big Planet's style of gameplay, though again, this would only be for completion bonuses.
The main "gimmick" of the game comes from how each character interacts with his or her environment. Whether it's purely aesthetic or impacts the gameplay in some way, as you can see in the ice example I have here. My main goal would be to make the game charming in it's own way, and seeing the characters interact with the environment in their own way would be the best route about doing so.
In short, Knight & Rogue would be your typical co-op platformer adventure game/hack n' slash.
Again, please if you have any sort of constructive criticism, I deeply appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
