Testing out Zack's Leg articulation after rigging.
I sure wish FA would allow MP4 upload directly. Because I didn't want to do the whole manual uploading to my website and generating embed SWF process for this.
The MP4 video would have been 140kB in size.. this reduced size GIF is 1460kB, so roughly 10 times the size.
Which is why some websites have switched to converting GIF animations to MP4 fully automatically to safe on space and bandwidth.

Is this just using normal bones for rigging? I've always found shapes like this difficult to rig without the joints messing up or the outer part of the upper leg looking awful, but this is looking pretty nice. I guess it doesn't help that the rigging tools in 3DS Max might as well be "select your vertices and type in the weighting" (and I can't figure out how to adjust the skeleton position without completely remaking all the skin weights) so it takes way too much effort to re-tool the rigging.
Yeah, its pretty much just bones. I did do a bit of trickery on the calf. I added a second bone to do a bit of stretching and squashing.
And yeah, nowadays I don't bother with envelopes anymore, I value all vertices manually.
I'm pretty sure I'll have to do a bit of modification on the thigh rigging, I will probably add a few more bones to the upper leg if it doesn't look good when he twists them.
