Heir to the throne by all of five minutes, Kaja would settle for being half the ruler his father is. Or perhaps more accurately, he'd settle for dying before his father does - that way he'll never have to assume power. Truth be told, he's not really that fussed about being king.

Not to say that Kaja isn't a decent prince and all around good guy; he inspires loyalty among those close to him through overriding honesty and unarguable intention to do the right thing - it's just that he'd rather be out riding, or hunting, or attempting to woo one of the nobles' daughters than actually have to take charge of a kingdom.

Unfortunately, life doesn't tend to give people the easy option, and despite his royal blood, Kaja is no exception. He may not know it, but he's going to form an underground rebellion against Tiernach, as the (slightly) younger twin pins a charge of treason on him and has him placed under arrest. With their father absent and unknowing, Kaja will need all his courage and a fair dose of luck to engineer his escape and begin the attempt to re-take the kingdom, fighting against not just Tiernach, but the dark armies he has created.
