love his eyes in this piece, they really evoke a certain depth to the character. now i feel bummed for peddling smut. OHWHATEV

how you did the canvas? rabbit glue?

I slapped Gesso on the surface with a brush somewhat haphazardly, which gives it that veiny look. Either that, or a large flat metal surface, like a trowel (I can't remember exactly what I did for this, but either method works!)

For the most part. There is an undersketch with conte, but you can't really tell.

damn, you did some wonderfull color finding in this peice, i never had any luck myself with color finding in acrylics. the textures also i think are quite nice too. also the texture i think is very quite nice too. this is a powerfull peice, the deep shadows add alot of mistery, just those eyes peeking out of them. you make me feel like giving painting another try. keep up the good work.

Acrylics are a pain in the ass, although taking a class for them really helped with some of the techniques (like glazing... oh man does that help).

Each time I look at it I get soemthing new. For a dark picture it's well lit, for a smudgy picture it's really detailed... great texture and I love the fine details like the shirt pattern and goatee.

I took it into photoshop, flipped, inverted, and rotated 180 degrees. I CLEARLY a mice in and/or around a vaginal-like structure.

That is an awesome portrait. Love the texture of the paint, and the whole surly pose. It has an irish/scottish feel to it, but that might just be the hat and white bit.

Sounds corny, but the paint style reminds me of Van Gogh's self portrait a bit.
