Ryan is starting to have some second on joining the d.o.w or dogs of war by the jacket they gave him he knows the he will be able to support his family get a great education and have a better life in general. but some doubtful thoughts was running in his mind he knew there was a chance he might not make it back but one person kept popping up in his head the girl next door to him. he had feelings for her but was to afraid at the time to confess them but little do he know she was just as shy with her feelings towards him too (classic anime trope right? hee... hee....) before he heads off Ryan will tell her how he feels and wants to be with her when he returns.
