And here's my second world map attempt. this probably took me a total of two hours. I'm always easily addicted to things like this. Guess you can see why I never got into Minecraft lol

all i can say is that when i do maps i tend to use almost like a free flow style where i start drawing and whatever ends up being the shape of the landmass is it. Then i plot some inland bodies of water and connect them to the oceans via rivers. I make the areas farthest away from the water deserts and if i want to make political borders i often add mountian ranges as a physical marker of th edge of the empire so to speak.
Well more or less just keep in mind where your high and low lands are. also if you're going for realism keep drainage in mind. If you have a region that you've decided to have rocky soil and lots of old growth then you're going to get swamplands there too, also if you have higher land then you won't have much by way of standing water sources per say, if you do have any it'll start draining into lower lands almost right away.
