I take no credit for this concept. My favorite artist is Escher and my favorites of his works are his impossible structures, so I've been known to sketch a few from time to time.
I've been obsessing about the idea of impossible structures the last few weeks and I was sick today, so I drew this.
I left it sketchy because I couldn't think of a way to color it that wouldn't ruin the effect completely. I guess I could have gone monochromatic, but eh.
So... is it indoors or outdoors? Three pillars or two? You be the judge.

Lol. Also First Comment (I hope)
MC Escher is one of my faves too, and this would be an allusion to his impossible fork, no?
Regardless, this is really neat, Trick. Love the little insert of yourself too :P
:( at you being sick though.
You know, I couldn't get to sleep last night cause of you! I got a crazy art idea in my head and it wouldn't go away. If you'd like an explanation I'll throw you a note or whatever they're called here. But my mind's eye has a gorgeous drawing in the works.
Have you had formal training? I go crazy about colour wheels and the shading boundaries and stuff. Chiaroscuro etc.
I love your style though, and I love Escher. We BOTH need to draw more :(
Sorry I can't offer advanced Critique at the moment, I'm a bit distracted...

lol, first comment --> only comment? :P
I like the expression I drew for him in this picture. It's kind of like, "that's right, I'm challenging your reality, what are you going to do about it?" ;p
You are, of course, welcome to send me any ideas you want. I just can't guarantee I'll ever get around to them. Which reminds me, someone else wanted me to draw a picture for them that I thought sounded interesting but I totally forgot all about it. >.< I might get in some drawing this weekend though, because I have a four day weekend, not including today. That's far better than my one day weekends. :P
I've had some art classes here and there since elementary school, and I think once, my parents put me in an art class one summer when I was a kid to get me out of the house. It's questionable how much physical knowledge I actually retained from all of those, since I am notoriously inattentive to pretty much everything and everyone, at all times. I have learned that I dislike painting and charcoal, and that, for me, nothing will ever beat a 0.5 mechanical pencil.
Much like everything I'm good at, (writing is the only thing I can think of :P), I just know what looks good and what feels good while I'm doing it. I guess if I sit back and think about it, I can explain why something looks good, so maybe I did retain something from those classes. ;p
I don't stress out about the color wheel because I don't really consciously think about it, but there is a reason I often draw Trick on a green background, and it isn't just because it's my favorite color. I think I've got a pretty good handle on colors, but I fail big time at shading and highlights. Knowing that, it's easy enough to say I just have to practice them more. :P

Totally. As for the green and orange... It's gotta do with complimentary colours and all that :/ It's actually a really nice scheme, green and orange.
But no, as for the idea I had about a drawing of Trick... I actually want to draw you. I can't.... make that sound less creepy xP. Iunno, Trick is just such an interesting character that I wanna make fan-art, but it wouldn't even be in the same way you do. I just wanna know what he'd look like in other styles, and this one idea I have sorta demands it to be him.
I won't do it without your permission, I'll explain it better in a note.
But yeah, I practiced shading so much early on that I can almost seamlessly shade a sphere with a .5 mm.
I hate brushes and stuff too, I guess. I'm just not good at using them, but even that will eventually get better if I practice. Nothing, though, will ever beat my favourite F pencil.
You're good at art, you really are, more practice and maybe a book or a tutorial or something on Chiaroscuro and shading would be helpful, I guess. The only thing I do notice is that your shadows are way too hard, and your light is way too "bendylight".
But then, that is with your style right now. You will improve, and your style will change, and in ten years you'll be able to trace a direct line through each of your stylistic changes. Try new things every time you draw, y'know?
Sorry if I sound all condescending or something, not trying to, or meaning to.
But yeah, Potential, that's your middle name! Trick "Potential" ... -cough-somethingorother-cough-
Sincerely
~Aiki

Heh, I get what you're saying, and I know it's not really related, but I'm about to go to bed and I feel like explaining that Trick actually doesn't have a middle or last name. :P
He has three names, as do most Foxes in my own little universe, but at any given time, he will go by only one. The first is his title, Elite #8 (Usually just #8, it's pretty obvious when one is referring to an Elite) which is used on extremely formal or unfamiliar terms. The second is his nickname, Trick, which is used among friends, family, informal settings, and pretty much anyone who he's introduced himself to. The third is his true name, which is kept a very close secret and is only shared with those whom he shares a life-long bond.
But don't worry about sounding condescending or anything like that. I really appreciate the honest feedback. It's actually put me back in the mood to draw again. :P

Oh, no, wait. People have made them. Sort of.
