I do hope you've built a few spaceships, fortresses and impenetrable suits of armour with your kids. Those are the memories that will stay with them for a long time. :)

I used to do this like forever when I was a kid. Man, those memories... I once
met with classmates at 3rd or 4th grade, planning to build "a plane". They expected
we would be building some sort of scale model, but ooooh no, they did not know
what I had in mind. long story short, at the end of the day, we had a child sized
passenger plane cockpit to sit in, with instruments an everything. The others, they
did not really want to play with it, said it was childish. Today I know the sad truth,
that they already had been stripped of their childlike imagination, at such young age.

We should never allow to lose the imagination we have as children. It makes us see
the world as more. Not only what it seems to be, but also as what it could be. People
always say it, as if being childish was something bad, something to despise. But it also
means being without prejudice or bias, being open minded and curious. Virtues I greatly
miss in our kind.

My memory of this kind of thing was strapping three wagons under a sheet of plywood, mounting two boxes on it, and making a truck that we gleefully rode down a nearby hill over and over and over again. With a flashlight taped to the top as a headlight of course.
