Character belongs to me

So, for those who haven't read my latest journal, I did it! I made it 1000 watchers! Not sure how, but don't care! I'm excited regardless! To celebrate, I figured I'd post this rather exceptionally awesome picture of Skips I got recently from Chewycuticle. I mean, yeah, I was gonna post it anyways eventually. But, why not today, to celebrate 1 K!
So, some background for this pic. A couple months back, Chewycuticle was opening for commissions. As I mentioned before, after megaplex, I was in quite the commissioning spree, so I jumped on the opportunity. At first, I was gonna go with a TF commission, because I was also on a TF kick as well. But, she was offering a new commission type. No examples or anything. It was experimental. "Natural Habitat" commissions, she called them. Basically, a character just where they feel most at home, in their element, etc. And this idea was intriguing, so I went with that instead of TF.
So, Skips is more or less based on me to some degree. Thus, his most natural habitat would be mine as well. Where do I feel most at home, at peace, where everything if only for a moment is right with the world. Like, I mean, I live in Florida, but sunshine and beaches aren't my thing. In front of a computer where I spend all my day? Technically accurate, but not emotionally so. Earliest memories are of Scotland. But I haven't been there since I moved away in the 90s, so it doesn't really count anymore. So, this thought process went on and on. Not really, I'm dramatizing it. it was really just bouncing ideas back and forth with a friend. But, eventually an idea did come to mind!
I love the rain. I do. Rainstorms and thunderstorms are my jam. Nothing like just relaxing and watching the water fall. And that's where I realized where I was most at home! At home. Relaxed. With it raining outside. A hot cup of coffee or hot cocoa. A comfy sofa or a chair. That's where I am the most at peace.
And, so I relayed this info to Chewy, and this was the most fantastic result from it! With liberties taken, of course. That's not my house, I don't got those plants, or those furniture or decorations, or sit around half naked for the hell of it. But Skips is a fictional character, so sure, that all fits perfectly. And, really, it's the feeling that mattered. It felt exactly right. It perfectly displays how I feel on a rainy day. And what's great is that I haven't gotten a great, honest to God, slice of life picture of Skips in ages. Like, probably not since the pottery picture. Maybe sooner than that, but that's the most recent one I can recall off the top of my head.
And you know what I realized? I love slice of life. That's what really brings a character to life. Not some random sexy pose, showing off paws, or going through another TF. Just, living. Being someone. And so, I'm damn glad I got this. And I want to get more like this! And that's why I wanted to share it to celebrate 1000 watchers. Because I hope y'all love it as well. It won't mean nearly as much to any of y'all as it did to me, but, perhaps, it might spark something. Who knows.
