I think Sonic and the Secret Rings is long overdue for a parody comic don't you? This was a pretty good game, the only flaw really being its frustrating controls, but there were also some problems with the storytelling that I plain can't get over. The 1001 Arabian Nights earliest manuscript dates back to the 13th century, thought the stories themselves go back as far as the 9th century, a long long time ago. Dinosaurs weren't discovered until the late 19th century, nearly a millennium after the stories were told! (Also triceratops and tyrannosaurus are from North America, on the other side of the world.) I don't mind pointing out that the dinosaur level makes NO sense, even with respect to the fantasy world the game takes place in. I have a similar complaint about the pirate level, though there WERE pirates in ancient babylon, heck there have been pirates as long as there have been seafaring societies, but the pirates in the game were from the WRONG ERA! They were using canons, and ships that wouldn't be invented for hundreds of years, who were they? Magical time traveling pirates from the Caribbean? Sonic team really needed to do its fact checking better for this story. OH well, that's just one more thing they did better in Black Knight.

I agree with you about the pirates, but I can actually better explain the Dinosaur Jungle level in the game. You see, it's actually based off of a story in the Arabian Nights about an island full of all kinds of monsters. Sonic Team probably just didn't want to go and design a whole slew of different monsters only to have them appear as background characters, so they just used Dinosaurs instead. And if you think about it; there is quite a lot of sense in it. After all: a dinosaur CAN BE comparable to a monster after all, at least by the standards of that time...
True, but then calling an island full of Dinosaurs "Monster Valley" wouldn't really make as much sense either.
And your forgetting about the people that the Sonic games are usually geared twoards: kids. Kids aren't going to know that the T-rex was from a different continent then where the stories take place; only that they can easily recognize it as a dinosaur...
