Yup, crushing vehicles is always fun :)
Animating is not that hard. With just line art he could try it. Like OpenToonz is really good for animation especially frame-by-frame animation. Drawing all the steps of crushing would take some time but it would be worth it I think.
I could try animating something like this in the near future since I want to focus more on animation.
