An orphan of Mongolian origin adopted by a Chinese government official named Ding Yuan, Lu Bu grew into a matchless warrior serving Emperor Ling of the Han Dynasty. The Emperor, however, passed away and left two heirs. Another government official by the name of Dong Zhuo then arrived and took the capital of Luoyang by surprise. Not only did he seize custody of one of the prince's and crowned him, by doing so, he gained control of the entire land. However, Ding Yuan had opposed Dong Zhuo's rule. Seeing his son, Lu Bu, as the top warrior in his ranks, Dong Zhuo challenged him to prove his loyalty. Only one idea came to mind. His gift of loyalty to Dong Zhuo was the head of his own adoptive father, Ding Yuan.
This ruthlessness reminiscent of Dong Zhuo's, along with the actual strength to back it up, earned Lu Bu a place at Dong Zhuo's side. As Dong Zhuo's proved himself a cruel tyrant, one man had the bravery to stand up, the Imperial Guard Captain, his name was Cao Cao. With a dagger in his robe, he almost ended the despot, but was seen drawing the weapon, and forced to give it as a gift to cover his true intention. As Cao Cao left, Lu Bu was not so easily fooled and informed his master of Cao Cao's ruse. The would-be assassin escaped, and formed a coalition of other lords and nobles in the name of the Emperor. The alliance broke through Si Shui Gate, guarded by Hua Xiong, a warrior almost as mighty as Lu Bu himself, but the mightiest man of the army awaited them at the next stronghold, Hu Lao Gate, mounted on his swift and powerful horse, Red Hare. Three common men who had sworn to be brothers-in-arms were within the coalition, Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei. The three of them challenged Lu Bu, occupying him as the army penetrated Hu Lao Gate.
In desperation, Dong Zhuo put the entire capital to the torch and retreated to Chang An Province, a beautiful woman crossed his path, and that of Lu Bu's as well. Her name was Diao Chan, and she secretly was charged with pitting Lu Bu against Dong Zhuo and ending the tyrant's rule. After she was successful, she stayed at Lu Bu's side as he raised an army and assigned her as part of his elite squad known as the Tiger Cubs. Now, the mighty warrior seeks to conquer the land through his own strength and only fools would dare stand in his path
