As long as I live, I will never be able to figure out why the ghost Pokemon are able to breed.

I have reason to believe that ninja Chansey come and leave the eggs. Like, the Pokemon that want to have a baby pray to Arceus and he creates the egg with his god powers and calls upon the ninja Chansey to give the egg to the parents. How good the baby's stats and moves are depend on how Arceus was feeling at that particular moment in time, and if Arceus was in an incredibly good mood, the baby Pokemon is born shiny.
And the reason the Daycare guy doesn't know how the egg got there is because the ninja Chansey are so bloody fast that they're invisible to the naked eye or any kind of recording device.

+=Pokemon Standard Breeding Theory=+
Excellent Ideas O,0 but now explain inter species breeding lol.
Last I heard it was explained that pokemon "touch noses an a transfer a small electrical charge" This apparently causes the female of the two to start producing an egg of her species.
Also the other reason is.. if you play pearl and diamond, Gengar can get attacked by physical attacks now. So maybe they made gengars body physical.. The idea is lame but there.

Gengar's one of my favorites, that's sorta true with most physical attacks being normal.
but then again most of my pokemon (aside from the recently caught) were about 2-10 levels above the NPC's. I still train the same, but now for some reason physical attacks act like hes easy to hit.
I think I remember it saying in the Manga and Anime that he could only be attacked by psychic pokemon.
Why don't people stick to one story. Pokemon could have rocked if it went along with the manga. Hehe
*huge evil grin* Goreeee. *head twists around*

It depends on the manga, honestly. I really really liked the Pokemon Adventures manga, but the show always bugged me because things would happen that would NEVER happen in the game, like pikachu 1HKOing a golem with Thunder or whatever. I like the games how they ARE. And Gengar is badass enough without making it immune to everything and your mother.
OH SEE WHAT I DID THERE *toothy grin*

I once read in a pokemon manga, that Gengar and some other ghosts have slight shape shifting abilities.
Perhaps...?
In the same said manga, there is a large debate between two professors, one giving an explanation that reproduction follows a similar trend to a bird, whereas, another, much younger professor, who is backed by his Lucario, that it is merely impossible to see such things for humans, and only other pokemon can see such things due to some sort of psychic field.
Which makes a slight bit of sense, as no autopsies are ever mentioned to have been done on pokemon.
