The Federal Marines are the Federation's elite fighting force, tasked with undertaking high-risk operations and conventional warfare. They can operate in almost every environment, be it on a planet's surface or in space itself. The marine training program is especially harsh with a mortality rate of 70%. Those who survive a year of intense physical training, off-world combat ops, and variety of other tasks are given cybernetic and genetic enhancements. The result is a warrior that has enhanced senses, quicker thinking, and superhuman strength.

Due to the expenses poured into training marines, they are seldom deployed unless the Board of Generals deem it necessary. The standard marine uniform consists of combat fatigues with hypersteel battleplates worn over them. The plates consist of several layers of composite material as well as thermo-regulating gel to help keep the marines comfortable. Worn over all that is the marine's signature nanoweave greatcoat. It is meant to be an anti-stab armour, but the coat does well in mitigating some energy and ballistic damage. Perhaps the most striking feature about the marine is the multipurpose helmet. This helmet has an integrated rebreather and multi-vision goggles. The rebreather allows the marine to operate in hostile environments while the goggles allow the marine to see in infrared, night vision, and advanced targeting.

Marines are trained to operate all kinds of weapons, but most carry the marine-exclusive VT-30 Predator heavy battle rifle. These powerful rifles fire the 12.7x58mm discarding sabot flechettes from a 30-round magazine, reloaded by breaking open the weapon and changing the magazine. The shots are designed to penetrate armour and shatter inside the body, causing massive internal damage. The Predator also comes with an integrated 40mm grenade launcher capable of firing multiple grenade types ranging from stun bombs to tesla grenades.

Marines play a vital role during the Insectopod Wars, their efforts made most noticeable during the Siege of Earth and the Sigma Volantis campaign. They once again play a role in hunting down mercenaries during the Purge, where marine strike teams managed to shatter Team Wildcatz and completely decimate the Blood Talons.
