the canisters look somehow not right, chunky, disharmonic, and would block a lot of the wearer's sight, sotosay. the hoses look much more elegant. :)
now if this mask would be meant as a real gasmask I guess there would be no need for pronounced lips and nostrils. but then again it might look too strange to most viewers.
this is meant as an observation, not as a critic at all. ^^

No prob :) Furtunately these are for those of us whom Like fur. and GasMasks.. and have wanted to combine the two somehow. Building on top of existing masks I see have had mixed results, for me its the general aesthetics of the overall look. Once I found out I could sculpt, and figured out the workings of a real gas mask and how to cast the rubber, I was in bliss :)
There are probably smaller canisters that can be used, It'll be interesting to find them and see how they look

I'm not sure if I like to wear gas masks. the one time at german army service when I was required to wear one for an hour or longer it nealry killed me squeezing my stupid head and asphyxiating me. :)
but still the looks are as strange as appealing. :)
say, wasn't there a canister filter dangling from a length of hose once? I remember seeing that design in Disney comics from the 80's. :)

It sounds as if the gave you the wrong size mask! As I have found out, with the hooded masks at least, one size DOES NOT fit all! Over the past 4 years of making these things I've found that adult human heads can range from as small as 50cm around the forehead to as huge as 64cm, where the average size they try to make adult gas masks for is for a 56cm head, And Latex has a maximum comfortable stretch on only 1.5cm. Because of this, I've been working on custom-fitting all of my hooded masks: The other day I sent out an upgraded mask to a wearer whom had mentioned that the strapped version was a little too loose on his head, and that it didn't give him a good enough seal around the face. The upgraded mask I sent him incorporated a hood: something I'm finally perfecting. He told me the mask fit him perfectly with no pressure anywhere, and the seal was great!
It depends on the Canister: I'm looking for the all-elusive double-hosed filter canister that I rarely see these days: In the meantime I have availanle a wye connector which the ends of the two hoses can hook onto and go into one canister.
(Gad dangit I managed to miss the reply the first time and I pasted a number the second time!)

it's entirely possible. I can't remember them measuring our heads beyond helmet size. which refused to sit right on my stupid head, too, but that seems to be the case with every helmet. :P
another problem might have been that I still had it strapped tight enough top seal perfectly while everybody else loosened the straps after the sealing test. I never had thought we'd have a drill with gas alarm. :P
the hood variant indeed sounds awesome. no hair getting inbetween the straps and such. one day I might test it out, although I've never worn a hood, or a full-head latex mask before.
