A talk about Depression
Some people walk around this world without hope, without the magic in their eyes, or the dream in their soul. Maybe it was other people that came around and beat the happiness out of their heart. Maybe they did it themselves when they came to be treated as a shadow.
I've been told by some that they are masters of suppressing their feelings, but that doesn't erase how they truly feel. It doesn't stop the words coming out of their mouths how alone they feel or how terrible they see themselves as. If you're reading this right now and you're unsure of yourself, I want you to know something.
You're beautiful to me. You're stronger than you really think, but you've believed otherwise for so long that even the hands being held out for you appear closed. Maybe you really don't believe my words right now, and if you don't, I'm sorry...but that doesn't mean you don't deserve the hope and love behind them. I don't know you, I don't know your life, your loves, your pains...all I know is that no matter who you are or where you've come from, you are worth every ounce of compassion and happiness this world can give. So stay safe, keep your heart safe..and if you could..now and again look in the mirror. If you can see the things I see in you..then it's a start.

Your comics and doodles always bring either a smile or a tear for me, but both always from joy. Often it can feel like the world is falling apart, like we're alone. It is hard to talk to others about it. But things like this... it makes it feel like it isn't so strange after all, like it is something we can move beyond so that it does not all have to be so painful or bothersome.
You continue to take topics that hit quite close to home for me, and I'm sure quite a few others as well, and making them into something beautiful. Thank you for being there, for making these wonderful little comics, and for just in general being amazing. :3

For me it was that nobody bothered to intervene on my behalf. I didn't care and the idea that nobody else did either was proof that I was right. In the end I had to decide that I was worth all the effort it requires to maintain my body and soon my mind followed. It's hard. Running a mile 3-4 times a week sucks. Push-ups suck. Even remembering to breathe regularly when normally I would freeze up (when faced with a tough decision or even while running!) helped me immensely. How the hell am I supposed to focus on anything when I can't even remember to breathe?
This goes for everybody, taking care of ourselves is the first step to being happy. As much as fitness can suck, as much as eating right can suck (Lookin at you, ice cream) depression is a million times worse. Each and every one of us is worth that effort, however much it sucks at the very moment.
And nobody deserves to be depressed. In the end, everybody deserves to love themselves and be happy.

Asking for help does not make you weak. On the contrary, it is almost always more difficult to talk about it. Talking with others about your issues is a sign of strength. Many people seem to think that bottling up your emotions will protect those around you, but that is wrong. It is more painful to watch someone suffer in silence. Someone can always see it, they just often worry that if they bring it up first they might hurt you. So speak, for your sake and for the sake of those who care about you. You may think that no one would care, but this world is extremely diverse. There is always someone who cares. You just need to reach out.
