Hiro had slipped walking along the sea cliffs near the bay. The teen, in the split seconds before the actual drop, thought for sure he was going to plunge into the rough winter waters below.
So he was surprised when he didn't hit the water. At first he felt afraid. He was staring into huge, silver eyes, half bent over a wide, white snout. His legs were dangling in a warm, damp space. And something twice as warm and wet was pressed gently yet firmly against his back.
But within a few moments, he actually recognized those eyes. And a familiar scar down the side of the snout. Fear was replaced with relief. And he let himself drop into Baydrake's mouth. The dragon held him gently in enclosed jaws as he backed into his cave. Once safely inside, Baydrake let him slide off his broad, pink tongue and onto the floor.
"Hey Baydrake... Good catch there, buddy. I thought I was going swimming for sure!"
