Picture I took at the opening ceremonies of FWA. On the left be Foxy 56, on the right, Wolfy Red Wolf. Two very recognizable characters I saw throughout the con. Who can mistake them for anybody else, what with their sunny shirts and cart full of chihuahuas. The toys are filling in for their real-life dogs. And to my understanding, they've been furries since before the fandom was even called furry.
