I've been trying to get back into a decent "art groove" with limited success. I kindof liked this doodle so I coloured it...though there are errors. Her hind legs are all screwy and I don't like how the hairless parts of her (the pinkish and gray areas) blend so well into where she has actual fur (dark grey/black areas). Also her eyes aren't sufficiently "pop-outy" enough. IRL she's got HYOOGE eyes.
But yeah, overall I don't totally hate it as much as all the other crap I've been trying and failing to draw lately, so I'm sharing. This is my dog, Cricket...a very small (three pound) mixed breed rescue...she's mostly Chihuahua, with some Dachshund and possibly Manchester Terrier. The rescue organization swears there's some Pug in her somewhere, and while you can't see it in her, her jaw problems are reminiscent. :P Yes, I feed my dog, she's just TINY and has metabolism/hypoglycemia issues, so she's like this tiny walking skeleton. *sigh*
Somehow this pic doesn't convey her near-constant shaking, either.

LOL, danke, her back legs are hard to draw since she has knee problems...BAD luxating patellas. Actually now that I think of it, I forgot to screw up her right front leg...her elbow hyperextends at random and the leg twists out funny, she broke it a while back and it healed well considering how bad the break was, but it left her with some wierd issues.
My dog has four legs, three are screwed up. e.e It killed her potential as an agility candidate. :B Oh well...looking into getting her CGC so she can become a therapy dog. She's very outgoing for a tiny little shivering mutt, LOL!!!
But yeah, she shakes almost constantly...I have to explain to many people every time I take her someplace that no, she isn't cold...she isn't scared...she's not having a damn seizure...she just SHAKES. :B
And if one more person says "hey, I've seen RATS bigger than that dog" to me ONE MORE TIME I may be going to prison for murder. FYI. ;)
Okay, I'll stop rambling about my dog now. XD

.................you do realize this is MY DOG you are talking about. My real-life, loving and faithful companion. She's curled up beside me now, gnawing on a biscuit.
You'll forgive me if I'm a little sensitive to people saying they think my dog should DIE. She's a survivor...with all the myriad of problems she has, she is still the happiest dog I know.
Forgive me for not seeing the humour in suggesting my PET should DIE.

XD!!! She's amazingly lanky and long-limbed, as well as long in the body. X3 She's three pounds of dog stretched in all directions, LOL!!! (though you can likely see how easy it was for her to shatter her front leg, neh? Those long toothpick legs...she just broke the hell out of her radius and ulna on the right foreleg. It will never be the same...but hey, she's in no pain and totally mobile, and that's all that counts!!!)
Yeah, I can definitely see that. I was wondering how her leg was doing, actually! I'm glad to hear it's better!
And while I'm here, lemme direct you on to this entry: http://community.livejournal.com/co.....es/388150.html You got a really nice badge!

Her leg is so much better. :) Her elbow hyperextends a lot when she's walking...it just randomly bends backwards and looks hella creepy. Vet says it's from her time in the cast...the way they had to set the leg, it slowly stretched out the tendons and ligaments so her whole leg is loose like that. It doesn't hurt her though, just makes her look odd. XD The leg itself healed REALLY well...though the whole thing is now twisted, too. Her right front paw aims straight off to the side, though it certainly doesn't slow her down any! She loves to RUN RUN RUN, and though her bad hindlegs (luxating patellas on both hind knees) and her funky elbow make her fall sometimes, she always hops back up and zooms off again, tail going a mile a minute! XD
.........oh WAOW, that IS cool!!! 8D!!! Thanks for the head's up!

This is getting silly. Yes, he shouldn't have said something that dumb, and yes, you shouldn't continue this hate war. You ban him today, but later he may ban you in retaliation. Or get a friend to do it. Then you ban them again, and it goes on and on. If you want to truly end an arguement, you need to understand things from both points of view.
Your view: You spend your time drawing a cute drawing of the pet you love. Even though you admit she is a little different looking, with pop eyes and shaking, you love her to pieces. You saw theweilders response as an attack on her. Like with anything you love you retaliated with fiery vengeance, as you should. Then you ban him, making sure he doesn't say things like that for a long while. While you were right to respond, you also could have chosen to simply delete his post. It's your journal. When HE retaliated, you retaliated back with a reply and a threat to ban. While this is conveinient now, it may bite you back should her choose to retaliate again.
His view: He saw your dog, and your writting at the bottom admiting she's got a few problems. Then he wrote a distasteful reply. Although I agree that he takes it beyond the point you should normally joke, I don't think he truly wants your real life dog to die. He knows he was only joking, and stands by his claim. You think he wasn't, so naturally your pissed when he doesn't repent. He gets pissed because your taking his joking so seriously. Then he gets really pissed when you ban him when there was no true malice.
I'm simply trying to mediate here. I take absolutely no side in this. I don't condone the actions of any one. I'm simply trying to nip this thing in the bud before two of my favorite artists start a hate war. I have already written on thewielder's journal to post a similar message. Extend the olive branch of peace, and maybe he'll do the same with an apology.
I hope you two can work it out.
On a completely indifferent and obscure point, cute drawing. I like how you drew the tail. It's like how all small dogs' tails are!

...if he got banned for his asshole comment it sure wasn't reported by me. I make very effective use of the BLOCK USER option. I saw no need to report him. If someone else did report him, and his ass got booted in a much bigger way than my small blocking effort, so be it. He made his bed, now he can rot in it.
I don't see how him getting banned for his own actions, without any effort on my part to get him in trouble, is my problem or my buisness. Thanks. ;)
BTW, if "he" bans me in retaliation, it should be because I've broken the rules. If I break the rules, I accept punishment as fair. ;) BTW, unless he owns the site (which I know he doesn't) I don't see how he could ban me for anything short of a rules or TOS violation.

Maybe I'm not reading this right but I really don't get what you are saying here. Rephrase please?
I mean I get the whole I made art of beloved if wierd dog, he says asshole thing about how she should die, I get pissed off, he acts like the jackass he is, I decide to avoid a dramafest and block him from viewing my art, commenting on my journals, or sending me any more notes...thus avoiding any further contact of any kind with him.
How, then, can this person "retaliate?" O.o I have the right to block someone from seeing/posting on my stuff. And if you think that block is getting taken off EVER you are sorely mistaken...it is my oubliette of assholes. I block 'em and then quite literally never really look back. I have never unblocked someone I blocked, and I don't know why I ever would...it is not something I do. :P
Hence my total lack of comprehension here.

........I don't care if they "mean it" or not, people who threaten or grievously insult my pets, my child or my family earn my ire and, thanks to the block option on this site, a perma-block.
Maybe this jackass should, I dunno...LEARN FROM THE MISTAKE THEY MADE and not post shit about wanting people's pets to die. Even in JEST that's sick shit, IMO.
I'm simply trying to mediate here.
Gotcha.
Except as far as I'm concerned, it's over and done. :) I've blocked the asshole, so said asshole cannot leave comments or view my stuff or send me notes. If you think I will ever view their stuff or send them notes or comment on shit, you are wrong. This person no longer exists, to me. I've dealt with it, and so there is no dispute for you to mediate here. :D Thanks anyways though.
I'm simply trying to nip this thing in the bud before two of my favorite artists start a hate war.
If there's a "hate war" it'll be pretty damn one-sided, since it will be the other person and not me. ;) Though massive thanks, I'm pretty flattered there. :)
Extend the olive branch of peace, and maybe he'll do the same with an apology.
Yeah...he had his chance to make a real apology and pissed it away as a means to try and make me stop other people from being offended. One, if you make an apology that has terms and conditions attached, it isn't a real apology, and two...I do not control others. I never rallied the troops so to speak, the people who spoke out against the asinine comment they left did so of their own free will, I had nothing to do with it. I'm flattered others rose to defend my pooch but ultimately I would never force anyone to defend myself or my own.
There need be no olive branch. No mistletoe gets hung on my shield today...because there is no longer an enemy to hate. I love the block feature, lol!
I hope you two can work it out.
...........okay, this person said my DOG SHOULD DIE. That doesn't get "worked out." That gets a block and a permanent ignore. :P There is nothing to work out...I will simply never again speak to or in any way associate with this person again.
Do you have pets?
On a completely indifferent and obscure point, cute drawing. I like how you drew the tail. It's like how all small dogs' tails are!
LOL, thanks. :) I actually made her sit at the foot of my bed and hold really still while I drew the base sketch so I could get the pose right, and her little tail kept twitching. XD!!!
BTW, sorry if I seem snide or short-tempered. I'm having some major bullshit literally ruining my life going on, and today has been a rollercoaster of moodswings. :P

We're pretty sure she isn't. X3 The rescue still has both her parents (they're unadoptable so they'll be living there for the rest of their lives) and her brother and sister aren't quite as racey as she is. We know she's mostly Chi with some Dachshund, and Manchester Terrier is suspected. The rescue swears there's some Pug in her background though the only thing Puglike is her terrible dentition. XD!!!
In order:
Yes, some things you shold never ever, ever ever, ever ever say, but we are all human. we are flawed, stupid creatures. We make mistakes. All we can do is try to apologize and make it better. I'm not saying forgive him, I'm just saying realize he's human, and therefore stupid and flawed.
webster's definition of Retaliation: To pay back (an injury) in kind. I thought based on the speculations over at thewielder's journal made by others that you would ban him. I'm sorry if this isn't the case.
I do have a dog. I've had several, and I know what it feels like to come to their defense. I love my current dog, and I loved my previous dogs before their passing. My last dog was a gassy, grumpy, begging cocker spaniel with selective hearing. I miss him. My current dog is an anti social sheep dog/terrier mix. No kidding. She hates kids and other dogs. She only likes adults. But she's gotten nicer as I have gotten older.
He struck you with a verbal blow, you rebuttled, then he rebuttled. Then you blocked him. Good for you. Ignoring jerks is the only real way to get back at them. By letting their actions influence yours, they win. Trust me, I've had lots of experience with bullying.
UN-banning someone: When I think of banning someone, I think it goes like this. First you send a notice of abuse, then the staff investigates, then they make a decision. I thought if you sent a note or something during the investigation process, then it could be stopped. Now that I know you didn't do anything, I apologize for any implications. I have never been blocked or blocked anyone, so the process above is purely speculation.
I'm sorry to hear things haven't been going good. Life likes to kick you when your down unfortunately. I hope things get better.

BTW, does your dog do tricks? I had a grandfather who taught his chihauhua to jump up on his lap, take a slice of salami from his lips and eat it.

That, I can understand and accept. :)
Odin himself said similar:
"I advise you, Loddfafnir, to take this advice,
it will be useful if you learn it,
do you good, if you have it:
never hold up to scorn or mockery
a guest or a wanderer.
Often, those who sit in the hall do not really know
whose kin those newcomers are;
no man is so good that he has no blemish,
nor so bad that he can't succeed in something."
That being said, this person proved that they have no remorse for their actions. I'm not going to sit around and wait for them to admit their flaws when I can hand you an itemized list of my own faults.

Oh, I give as good as I get. Odin also said thus:
"I advise you, Loddfafnir, to take this advice,
it will be useful if you learn it,
do you good, if you have it:
where you recognise evil, speak out against it,
and give no truces to your enemies."
That being said, I'm not a drama-whore. While he may be a total asshole, he technically didn't break any site rules or TOS that I'm aware of. I merely used the personal block option so I never need have contact with him again. I feel no pressing need to report him, though I wouldn't be disappointed if someone else did.
Speculation is merely that: speculation. ;) People who don't know me personally imagining what I might possibly do? Yeah. I laugh at that. ;)
I'm very, VERY big on fairness.

Awww...terrier mixes usually end up ADORABLE. Piiiictures? :)
Now imagine for a second that you uploaded some art of one of your dogs and this person left such a comment. How would that sit with you?
He struck you with a verbal blow, you rebuttled, then he rebuttled. Then you blocked him. Good for you. Ignoring jerks is the only real way to get back at them. By letting their actions influence yours, they win. Trust me, I've had lots of experience with bullying.
If you give them a voice, you give them power. ;) Take their voice away, take the attention away, and they are nothing. :D
I was bullied pretty badly in High School. I'm damn short...like, the shortest guy I know, I'm only 5' 6" tall. It didn't help that I'm not all that into sports, unless you count hockey as a spectator sport. I was geeky, shy, and I wore glasses. I even have an honest-to-god massive overbite complete with really big buck-teeth. I was scrawny and always had my nose in a book.
I got picked on so badly I ended up sick from it several times. :P
Oh, did I mention my brother got to be like a foot taller than me, all big and beefy and sporty? Yeah, I look pathetic in photos with him. e.e
Yet now, I am my father's prized son, making changes in my life to improve not only myself but the life of my son (who lives with my ex, who has full custody). I'm currently trying to clear some legal issues so I can enlist in the US Marine Corps. I've learned to put the teasing and bullying behind me...I'm looking at a decent military career and the other day I ran into someone who picked on me back in the day, asking people if they'd like fries with their hamburger. Small victories, yo. ;)
I hate it when people get hit with the asshole-of-the-day and instead of just blocking the jackass, they escalate the asshattery into a flamewar. It's so uneccessary and honestly a waste of time and space. :)

For some reason I've been the occasional target of total assholes, so I'm very glad of the block option on the site. :) Once blocked, the blocked party can no longer view the blocker's submissions, or comment on their journals or submissions or anything, and can't even send 'em notes. :) It has been a very effective tool for me, in keeping my gallery drama-free.
I'm sorry to hear things haven't been going good. Life likes to kick you when your down unfortunately. I hope things get better.
My main issue is that I can't enlist until the legal crap is cleared, and it could be a good two months longer before I can clear it. In the meantime, I've had to turn down not one but TWO promotion offers at work since it'd lock me into a 2 year contract with the company, thus fucking my potential military career. So they've had to hire someone else...I've been forced to train someone who, in short order, will be my superior...and they are kindof horrible and incompetent. :P My life is sucking daily.
It should get better as the legal crap gets settled. :)
BTW, does your dog do tricks? I had a grandfather who taught his chihauhua to jump up on his lap, take a slice of salami from his lips and eat it.
Yep! Though since her knees went awry half of her tricks she's no longer allowed to do...she used to be able to dance on her hind legs, sit up and beg, jump onto a lap on command...but now she's not able to. :P Well, she TRIES, but when she does she usually falls. e.e She's smart though and I'm working on some new tricks, including the cookie-on-the-nose trick. She hasn't quite got it yet though...and she shakes so bad half the time the cookie falls accidentally, LOL!!!
(And yes, leaving my dog and cats behind while I'm on active duty will be like ripping my guts out with a fork, but...I'm pretty sure the people I trust will take care of her while I'm away. :D)
That, I can understand and accept. :)

That being said, this person proved that they have no remorse for their actions. I'm not going to sit around and wait for them to admit their flaws when I can hand you an itemized list of my own faults.
webster's definition of Retaliation: To pay back (an injury) in kind. I thought based on the speculations over at thewielder's journal made by others that you would ban him. I'm sorry if this isn't the case.
Yes, as you said she does have the "boney" look to her. But who cares? She's a cutie. Aside from their barks being huge angry hamster squeaks I tend to like little dogs as well as the big ones. They tend to take up less space one can say compared to the larger dogs if your home or apartment is too small.
She also has the "time for snuggles mommy?" look on her face. Nice pic.

Oh, having only had big dogs before, I'm totally in love with how economical she is. 8D Due to her hypoglycemia issues, I have to buy really expensive dog food. I paid like $40 for a bag of her food last time.
I've been working my way through the bag, and it's nearly halfway empty.
I BOUGHT IT FIVE MONTHS AGO.
Our appartment is TINY TINY TINY, too, but big enough for her to run around in. :) I sit in a corner and throw toys for her to fetch, and she uses as many strides as a big dog in a big yard. XD!!!
LOL!!! I made her sit at the foot of my bed (she does a very good sit/stay!) whil I doodled the original sketch (these days I can't seem to draw worth shit unless I have a living, breathing refference...obviously a problem when drawing, say, a unicorn!!!!) and she kept giving me the pathetic look of "PLEASE DADDEEEEE LET ME MOVE AGAIN!!!" She couldn't figure out why I was taking so long to give her the "okay" to run around s'more! XD
(Seriously, she runs in circles on my bed like it's a racetrack. XD She's THAT TINY!!!)

We have two dogs our selves and a cat. The smaller of the dogs (Tee) is a mix of both boxer and beagle. And the larger one which is "Little-Man" who of which is a mix of his mommy (Tee) and the dog that humped her and did a "ninja vanish" trick. He is an absolute nut ball when it comes to going outside. If he needs to go out and you're putting him out. He does an exact 360 about six times, almost all the way to the door he's THAT excited.
As for the cat, she's making it a little tough for me to type atm because she's snuggled up on my lap, aaaaaand is pretty much obstructing most of my keys. So I'm typing around her head. She's also an absolute cuddle bug. When I go to bed, she'll pace up and down the left side of my bed, spin a few times and then flop between my left arm pit.
She's also the first cat I've ever seen that sleeps under a blanket. I'll get up in the morning, drape it over her before I go downstairs and she'll still be in there a couple hours later.

LOL, Yvaine (one of my cats) is a blanket-sleeper too, but only if I'm in the bed. XD She keeps finding new and interesting ways to indirectly wake me up...she knows that if she just jumps on my back and yowls I'll bitch at her and won't pet her, so...she gets sneaky. She does things like crawl under the blanket to roast me awake in a pool of sweat (Persians are WARM, and Cricket gladly helps her fry me) or, her very favourite, sit on my pillow and ever so gently drape her tail across my face, meaning I'm breathing cat hair.
Did I mention I have a mild allergy to cats? XD!!!!
Kitties are fun. Yvaine is the best cat I've ever had. :)

Oh our cat is weird some times. When I'm just going to sleep she'll eventually do the curious "explorer" deal on me while I'm lying down. She'll climb about the top of my head on my pillow. She'll walk around on my chest and sniff about. Then she'll go about the pacing up and down my bed again, then flop in my pit and snuggle up. Also when she meows it's not the typical mid-level to loud meow. It's this absolutely adorable low "mew, bruuurna meow" sort of like sound. Pretty much as if she were saying "what cha doing? pets now?" kind of deal. :3
If you want to see her I believe I still have a pic of her in my scraps section.

Aren't Chihuahuas and Manchesters built rather thin normally anyways? That and Chihuahuas are characteristically nervous shivery little things anyways. A lot of the smaller breeds are actually, now that I think about it. Probably one of the reasons I prefer larger working breeds myself. I keep thinking I'll break the little ones if I pet them too firmly. O.o She is cute though, judging from the drawing you did. Hope you can get her to retain some muscle mass in spite of her nervous metabolism.
Danke. :) And. Yeah, they can run to the thin side. :)

I thought so too. When they first handed Cricket to me, she was only a pound and a half and I thought she'd DIE if I petted her. XD She's tougher than she looks, though...these days she flops on her back for bellyrubs and gets upset if I'm too gentle, LOL!
I've been trying to get her to take three meals a day instead of two...seems to be working some! :)

Well, I want to hug her. <3
I love me a nice-tempered dog, regardless of breed.
Heck, don't feel too bad, I get the whole "Your dog is fat!" thing with poor Riley. He's got major health issues himself, being a puppy mill reject - and no matter how many times I explain this, helpful people at my store (good gosh, I own a pet store and my other dogs are at a nice weight...) tell me to quit feeding him treats, (I don't) cut back his dog food (hi, he eats 1/4 cup of light dog food a day, folks) walk him more (I walk my dogs around 2 miles a day now, rain or shine. He keeps up just fine.)
Finally, one of my employees (who's husky herself) when someone said, "I think she's upset that I called her dog fat," retorted...
"Yeah, I get kind of upset when you call me fat too."
The lady about died, apologized, etc, but we all felt vindicated for poor Riley. ;)
Trust me, know exactly how you feel. She's just got the opposite problem than Riley. Maybe we could switch their metabolisms for a few weeks... *grin*

OH IF ONLY. I've love for Cricket to gain at least a few more ounces. I want to rub her back and not feel her poky little spine!!! XD A nice layer of blubber would make her so much better.
But alas, some dogs are fat, and some are thin, and sometimes there's not much one can do about it. :P

.....that...is a thing of beauty. XD Serves her right!!!!

OK, that is just damned cute.
I don't tend to like teeny shivery dogs, but I make an exception for yours. <G> I've been hoping to see a pic of the wee little thing, but this is even better. LOOKIT THE EXPRESSION! XD And seeing your art is always with the awesome.
She does look a bit like an Italian Greyhound. /hands her a teeeeeeeeeny biscuit and an angora sweater/

I agree with someone else, this is not how I've imagined her at all! I think it's due to the fact you only mentioned her size but never the body type. I expected a tiny little short legged yorkshire looking mix. And she's partially bald too, oh so much love! <3 Petting her must feel awesome!
I'm imagining her all curled up with my hairless cat! How awesome that would be! XD

LOL, if I had a male dog, I'd affix bows in his hair and paint his nails all the time. ;) My manager does this with her dog...he gets bows, has a pretty and very girly collar, and gets his nails painted...and his name is Sue (as in, a Boy Named Sue, LOL!!!)...it's great. :)
