I could make a marshmallow joke probably it wouldn't be right.
What? You think I'm gonna make a joke? Yeah right.
It's funny, if not fitting that Jack is starting to show guilt cause he just screwed up his ENTIRE Family. Whether or not he likes it....he's a murderer...and for more than just one count. *prepares the electric chair*

You know...kinda hoping I'm wrong...but I think I'm starting to see a picture here...starting to see why Jack hates Gem so much. It's obvious he hates her, and seeing what he did to try to "get rid" of the problem. I'm thinking Jack thought he could get away with the boys...sadly...well they didn't stay...entered the burning house...Jack leaves....That night Jack lost everyone he loved...and it's all his fault. But Gem survived...the one thing Jack wanted gone is the only thing he has left.
Just a theory...
Just a theory...
Regressive Tendencies takes an adult, or a teen, and physically makes them a toddler or baby by use of FOY water. They physically regress. This is impossible to occur as we all know. The story is pure fantasy, with no disrespect towards
Kammypup
On the other hand, Shine deals more with AB issues that many of us have. None of us who are AB or BabyFur actually physically become little again, although I can't guess how many people would like that to happen. As ABs or BabyFurs, we'll never actually attain a goal of Age Regression, unless there is a mental or physical limitation; a learning disability, a physical injury or disability, or such, and at that point, it's not like we're thinking 'Oooh, I'm going to be a baby again! YAY!'
To me, and that's important, because this is how I see it, Shine deals more with the desires, the feelings, the insecurities, and other aspects of an adult who finds comfort, security, and safety in the mindset of a baby or toddler. They are not regressed, but they can allow a portion of their brain to come forward and allow them to release their adult control for a little while. However, throughout, they are always an adult, and can respond as an adult as required. They have not regressed. They simply allow a certain aspect of their personality, which is normally deeply hidden, to come out.
Even in Regressive Tendencies, Kammy still needs to maintain an adult mind to move the story forward.
Make sense?

Okay yeah I see what you're saying. I guess typically when I think of regression as synonymous with age play, more in the light of what we see in Shine and what most of us ABs do, and therein lay my confusion. But you do draw an important distinction between actually adopting or having the mindset of a child, and simply assuming a temporary role for whatever reason suits the individual's appeal to age play.
I'm done making guesses about where the story goes, too many twists and turns, and Sammy is a great story teller. Truly amazing story, and from the replies above, easily has been able to draw people into her story.
I know it's not real, only a story, but I can't wait for the next page.
I have so many questions about certain things, but I am going to have to wait to find out.
This is a great, edge of your seat story reminiscent of the old television shows which left you hanging until the next week, when the hero would figure out how to escape the mad clutches of whomever.
But, the question that's on my mind now is IF ZeeZee and Rasile ARE dead, and have come to get Gem to help her with this, but we recently saw Souffle, how is Souffle in her dream?
Time will tell all, I guess.

i don't know if my heart and feels can take the next page....i knew this one was going to show Zee and Raz going back into the house but i didn't want it to be true. Poor poor Gem. but wait...if Gem was the only survivor...how the fuck did Jack change her charts in the hospital to cause her to get that severe dose of the drug that put her in the coma she is in?
Obviously, Jack survived. No one else did. Jack also is "Mr. Murdock" from the trial, both in dream and in reality, and 'Dr. Murdock" is Souffle, and Jack, being his twin brother, was able to forge his signature. Jack IS, apparently, in the hospital. But, Souffle didn't see the chart. I think . . . I don't know any more. I have to admit I'm guessing, and the Sqynx is going to have a lot of explaining to do.
Unless this whole entire story is just a dream.
Unless this whole entire story is just a dream.
That was one of the things I thought too. If Jack survived, he took on his brother's identity to get out of being on trial for murder and to hunt Gem down and kill her, or make her life miserable.
I can say overall this story has came out like I feared it to. I guessed they'd all end up burning up in that house because of Jack's hatred. I'm glad to see his oh crap face, even though it is tragic what will happen to his children.

I don't think Jack took on Souffle's identity. He said to Gemma that it was ironic they were both in the same facility.
Okay, here's where I get confused, and it doesn't make sense.
Jack comes into Gemma's room, talks to her, and 'ties her up.' I assuming he put her restraints back on her. We have to assume that both Jack and Souffle's last name is Murdock. That's an assumption.
Jack changes Gemma's chart. "Dr. Murdock" is Souffle. But, since Jack is Souffle's twin, the handwriting would/should be the same, or at least, very close. He must know about the drug, maybe even an offshoot of what he was working on when Gem was still a baby. He signs Souffle's signature. At some point, he leaves.
Souffle is on call during the night. He goes into check on Gemma, sees she's restrained, although he didn't do it. He assumes that maybe it was a nurse. He runs into Paul, tells Paul the restraints had to be re-applied, although he doesn't know it was his brother who did it. Nor did he look at the chart, or the medications on it.
Obvious confusion for Paul and Gemma since neither one of them know Souffle works there, Paul describes Jack's twin brother to Gemma, who only saw Jack, so it must be Jack. Paul runs off, the nurse comes in, reads the chart, gives Gemma the injection, Paul isn't there to stop it, etc.
I don't know how true any of this is. I could be totally wrong. Maybe Souffle is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, I don't know. We must wait and see.

The one point that I'm having a huge issue with it is this. In her 'coma' state, or whatever Gemma is in right now, ZeeZee and Rasile come to get her. They lead her to the story of what happened to Nicole, but now, they aren't there. It's Gem, all alone, except Souffle is there. The thing is Gem isn't Gem, but Gemma, and she recognizes Souffle as Souffle, not Jack, and Souffle is talking to her, as Gemma and Gem, at the same time. He calls her 'Squeaker', but apologizes to her like she's an adult. He talks to her as an adult.
If ZeeZee and Rasile are dead, how can they AND Souffle all communicate with Gemma, since we saw Paul interacting with Souffle fifteen or so minutes earlier. That doesn't make any sense to me, unless none of this is real.
So, I'm really looking forward to how Sammy is going to put all of this together, and see what she has planned for the end of the story.

Come to think of it have we seen comic pages where both Souffle and Jack are standing side by side, besides the story that Jack tells Gemma before trying to choke her?
This might suggest the Father has a split personality Jackal/hyde complex like you described earlier. Explains the twin story, why he felt Nicole had an affair ( if so she she _really_ would be having an affair through Hyde's eyes.) Because internally he must be aware that the man she fell in love with was Jackal and has been all along. She might not have known "Hyde" even existed until well after the marriage. After all "Hyde" was the one who secretly watched her in her sleep and wrote love letters. Nicole would fall in love with him for writing those letters, because she would have thought that was sweet that "Jackal" thought so deeply of her as well as showed affection
Also explains why Both Jackal and Hyde pursued the same jobs, had the same interests, had the same skills and knew what each other was working on. Both would be aware of the Dr. note,. Explains Paul's confusion. Gem's encounter. Dr. Nick's surprised reaction and quite a bit of mysteries surrounding that trial as well. I have a feeling if this isn't all in Gem's head, the trial where she lost it, might be related to this incident or another one related to this Dr. Murdock.
The "all in her head" could also happen. It could be very well she dreamt this whole adult life and will wake up at the point she was found on the street with her dead mom. It would be a sad ending, but it might turn out Paul is real and has adopted her.
Or there could always be another ending we haven't thought of that will be revealed.

I couldn't edit to add that if Jack/Souffle really does have Multiple personality disorder, he honestly would behave and act like he's two different beings. His family would likely believe him and call him by either name depending on how he identified himself and his behavior. All they'd know was that Jack disappeared into the lab. Or one goes off to work. Or one is at one place while the other is somewhere else. That is until they catch on.
Though this page could throw the theory off, but not completely:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/18805383/
They are together briefly but it seems odd that Souffle just disappeared completely after his argument with Jack. You'd think if both Souffle and Jack existed, as physically separate individuals, Souffle would be standing next to Nicole in the last frame. The drawing could be portraying the idea that Jack/Souffle is arguing with himself in this whole scene. What Nicole see first is Souffle and pulls him away. After she pulls "Souffle" away, she's left with "Jack". After "Jack" disappears then she can be with "Souffle"
Could be possible the family is catching onto what is going on?

I know when you said a loooong time ago that this would not have a happy ending, but ffs this has gone very dark. I always figured more of a parents killed ending but brothers were adopted out. Now i guess it makes sense otherwise they would have undoubtedly tried to reach Gem later in life.....
Oh noooes!
If I may break Persona for a tad. Having read the rest of Found this evening, I am most impressed by all of the foreshadowing that led up to this point. It's been pointed out, the burnt out house, Zee Zee hiding under a table, the repeated words of a dying mother, but one notes that on pages 283 and 284, Zee Zee is seen burned by the smokelike entities corrupting the memory. Many have come to the conclusion that Zee Zee and Rasile died in the fire, and I've got a suspicion that Jack doesn't make it out either. The idea that Gem is being haunted by these literal specters seems almost certain. Looking back, near the very beginning of the story, Zee Zee mentions that there are rules regarding telling Gem the straight truth. However, Rasile attempts to break this rule more than once, and Zee Zee has to physically stop him, meanjng that this isn't something they are prevented from doing physically, they have been bound by something else. A game? A wager? Against whom are they playing? Jack. This is a contest between spirits, and something big is at stake, but what? I have a theory, but don't want to jump on it quite yet. I am at the edge of my seat!

She did say that it would be a bittersweet ending, so something has to happen to make it that way. What it will be, I don't know, but I wouldn't stop reading it until the very end. She might surprise you.
Besides, she said she has two endings for it, although I'm not sure if she is going to post the second ending or not.

I don't know, sweetie. I went back and looked and I've seen day trips, beach trips, and the event with whatever the 'spy' monster bug was, as well as Gem and Rasile and 'Daddy' scorpion like monster looking for them.
The more I go back and look, the more confused I am. I'm sure it'll all come together in the end, but ZeeZee complaining that someone was showing Gem memories and then sharing memories of his own? There's some key factor that binds all of this together, and when we get that, we'll all say 'Oh, okay, now it makes sense', but until we do, I'm completely confused.
Then, there's your baby typing, which I have no clue what that is either. A secret message, of your baby side trying to give me the answer?

I'm sorry Feef, I don't get it. But, I did go back and see page 95 and 96, and ZeeZee was under the table still, in the burnt out house, but he recognized it as a dream that Gemma was having.
I ran out of money to pay for my doctor and to buy certain medicine I need to be taking in a bi-weekly basis, so I'm not quite as sharp as I normally am. I probably missed something, and I'll tell you, honestly, it's been kind of hard to focus lately. So, if you'll excuse me, I'm just going to wait and watch the story as it goes along.
But, you would appear to be correct, I guess ZeeZee does survive. Maybe we can ask him tomorrow how he did! LOL

I feel than incrypting an already vague hint was a little overkill, Runt. I really do think Zee Zee is dead, if not horribly disfigured. Though he was unharmed when Gem entered the burnt house the first time, so was Raslie the second time she entered, so unless they both survived, their state of well being in the memory seems unrelated to their survival. It was still a very specific detail to have Zee Zee be burned in the butterfly house. There's even a sizzling sound as the shadowy tendrils wrap around his leg. Also, note Souffle's reaction to Gem asking about her brothers. He looks quite upset, tearing up. Even if he was going to show her that they were all right, it would have made more sense to tell her they were okay before revealing what had happened. Finally, whatever happened with Jack, Souffle, Raslie and Zee-Zee likely happened to all of them, since all of them can contact Gem in her sleeping state. Unless this fire gave them all psychic abilities, I feel that a haunting is our most likely suspect. The one wrench in the gears is the physical appearance of Jack. He's the only potential phantom to interact with Gem in a physical sense, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the fact that Jack and Souffle are identical twins will come into play very soon.
And I guess this page is where it continues? https://www.furaffinity.net/view/6742382
Might explain why Zee slapped Gem. Gem at the time wasn't ready to face the memory of what is about to happen.
