Featuring my pathfinder characters Sifra Erron and Cylethe Avnar. I was going to wait until after their part in the game had wrapped up awhile down the line to put these up so that I could also dump some info about them, but wanted to catch up on uploading a picture or two I had been sitting on so instead just going to throw these two in there as well just because and cut out some of the extra background detail. Still gonna be a bit of an infodump, so would suggest not reading as there's nothing but musing on mechanics and poor decisions there.
Sifra Erron, rogue/shadowdancer wolf on the left was the first character I made for the game on the lower level tier. She's a blank blank turned bounty hunter turned mercenary with a skillset aimed at being very sneaky, having a stupidly high stealth, very solid disable device and bluff, and fairly good skills all around beyond that. Her combat was supposed to be based around ducking in and out of stealth during combat, spring attacking from the shadows or feinting and vital striking when unable to do so. It didn't work out quite so well, though I was happy with some of her other abilities, having limited magic based off of shadows. A rogue who can just decide to produce a lockpick from shadowstuff, or who can dodge attacks by creating some kind of shadow afterimage, pretty neat. A bit complicated to play though, especially when just coming in at 10th or so level. If I had to go back and remake her, I would probably take less levels in Shadowdancer, just getting the base ability to stealth during combat, and focusing more on Rogue afterwards. Summoning minions for a brief amount of time is nice, but ultimately seems like it just burns turns. As far as the character herself, I'm overall disappointed with how I ended up playing her. I don't think I did a good job and wish I could go back and RP some things differently. She'll get another shot later on, and maybe I can work on somethings by then, but I think at this point I've resigned myself to just playing a decent rogue who maybe didn't need a backstory or certain opinions at all.
Cylethe Avnar, pure fighter kitsune on the right, is the higher level tier character. She's a travelling swordsman who started doing mercenary work at a young age to earn the right to be a temple guardian of minor import in her home village, and ended up training beneath some legendary swordsman before that as well. There's not much to say about her mechanics. She's a crit build two weapon fighter who was designed to hit as much as possible and in as similar fashion to a truck as could be managed. Not much more to it than that. Entirely not to boast, but if anything, I would have shaved off a level of fighter or two in exchange for a bit of rogue or bard instead, as a skill bonus/versatility thing so she was good at something besides combat and for a bit more balance. Just okay at things like perception and sense motive though, so not entirely without use. Hindsight is 20/20. Characterwise, I'm a bit more pleased with her than Sifra. She doesn't have much backstory, mostly being a replacement character more than anything else, but I still like what she is even if I don't do remotely a decent job at portraying it. She's supposed to be a rather humble (To the point where confronted with stories about her, she would either insist the person were speaking of someone else or become suspicious of how much they know), seasoned warrior who lives for the thrill of combat and realizes nothing else really fulfills her like that does, subsequently deciding that if that has to be case, she's going to revel in it and hope that she meets a good end before a lifetime of broken bones, scars and combat catches up to her, which proves difficult in a world where death to some people is just a temporary inconvenience. Having already been pushed out of her original position in her home village due to a lack of any other skills that hitting things with swords, she's hoping this latest adventure will present a good point at which to stay dead, some really satisfying fight against a proper foe, because it's easier to deal with pain, fatigue and the specter of death than to confront the fact there's no place for you outside of what you think you know. Despite that rather grim outlook, she's a professional, and wouldn't refuse to get back up while there's still a job to be done, and tries to keep cool and approach things with strategy, thought and tact, no matter how much she wants to just pull out a weapon to solve any problem. Once a fight's on though, the weapon doesn't get put away till it's done it's work.
Anyways, just some dumb, fractured thoughts on some things to share while archiving the pictures. No matter how poorly I play them, I've kinda grown to like these two, and would rather have some record of their existence than not down the line.
