The fox moved through the world like a shadow, unseen and unnoticed. Unfeeling and unknowing. All there was was the Purpose. The Purpose and his name. Gideon. People stared past him, looked through him. He was of no consequence without substance, apart from the world.
A flash
A monk. The sheep. Dawn. She was the one who gave him Purpose, Meaning to his existence. His life had ended and in turn he ended the lives of others at her request. This was all he had now, all there was to exist for. But once, once there had been others, hadn't there?
Flash
Fields, green and vast, full of he ripeness of summer. Harvest time. Laughter. Him?He couldn't remember now even what he sounded like. What he did, where he came from, what happened to him. Only that he was here, now, and that he could never move on. Never have peace. Why? Evil? Failure? He did not remember, yet the knowledge was a part of him.
Flash
'Gideon...'
A name, his name. Called. By family? A friend? He didn't remember. It was all he had, his name. Gideon Grey, a lone fact in a sea of vanished memories. Could he find out, discover who he had been? Did he want to? He couldn't remember. So he followed his Purpose, doing what the monk said, trying to give this existence some meaning. Only she knew of him, only she noticed him now. But once...
Flash
A young fox holding down a young bunny. Yelling
Flash
An older fox. Pies. A meeting. Apology.
Flash
A laughing fox. A laughing bunny. Family.
Flash
Blood on snow. A bunny fallen. Crying. Still.
Flash
An old fox. Alone. Empty. Last words. Darkness.
'I don't want to remember.'
