(Translation: "Even if all others... I will not." It is a motto with a long history, but it's used here as a statement of solidarity and resistance.)
What is fascism? It's sorta been reduced to a generic political insult, but perhaps the most useful definition is an ideology marked by traditionalism, anti-modernism, pointless machismo & action for actions sake, viewing disagreement as a form of treason, xenophobia and bigotry of all kinds, if this sounds familiar to you, you are not alone in thinking that...
There is a lot of things wrong with fascism, but perhaps the main thing is its innate hostility to human rights, not just for minorities but for everyone. They just start with undermining the rights of minorities, cus it's easier to get away with.
So, what can be done about it?
I recommend Amnesty International, an international organization for human rights .They track human rights abuses and put pressure on governments by collecting signatures and organizing letter writing-campaigns. They very much work on the principle of making every voice heard as much as possible through organized action. Even if you can't donate, you can still participate. https://www.amnesty.org/en/
A more America-centric organization is the ACLU, who are ready to take legal action against unconstitutional legislation. https://www.aclu.org/
And lastly, Lambda Legal is an organization for queer and trans rights and has a pretty good post-election FAQ: http://www.lambdalegal.org/blog/post-election-faq
There is so much more that I can't even list it but the bottom line is: you can make your voice heard, and you should! Human rights aren't just empty words, but values that matter to everyone. But whether you decide to fight back, with money, with words or with non-violent action, or just endure, know that this owl—and his imaginary friends—got your back!
