To say that Katrina wakes up in a morning and decides to kill people would be unfair. More accurate is that she honestly doesn't care whether she does or not, it all depends on whether the people she meets are more convenient alive or dead.
More interesting to her than straight killing is obtaining the forced submission of another and it is a task at which she has become particularly adept, making it all the more unexpected when, presented to Tiernach by the Brotherhood of the Eye, she quickly discovers that she can neither dominate nor intimidate him as they had hoped. Instead, Katrina will find herself developing a growing respect and even affection for the iron-willed prince. Not only is the latter an emotion that she is unaware of possessing (and is somewhat uncertain how to deal with), but it is one which will come increasingly into conflict with her instructions from the Brotherhood as they pressure Tiernach for results with little regard to his happiness or sanity.
