The lore in Monster Hunter is that the "humans" evolved from the same origin species as the "wyverns" in game.
So it explains why they have small ability to hunt the larger creatures, wear their skin and hunt larger creatures.
I dont know if you ever seen anyone play this game, but if you don't know what your doing at all, the monsters do indeed destroy you pretty easily.
So it's kinda/sorta the type of reality you'd have a loose sense of enjoyment in.
But I dont know, you always seem to be on the side of anyone never being stronger than anything that remotely looks like a dragon, so, eh.

Both the rules of science and common sense dictate who would really always 'win' in these scenarios. Most adults understand that a mouse can never kill a cat, and nor could a tiny humanoid ever kill a giant predatory reptile with primitive, Iron Age weapons. Don't you realize no person could wield those enormous swords or have the strength to pierce the natural armor of these huge consummate predators? This kind of nonsense is created to give real-life pathetic weaklings some kind of feeling of self-worth by fantasizing they are able to kill creatures far superior to themselves. The larger wyverns would have exterminated the tiny humanoids long before they would have had the technology to create dangerous enough weapons to threaten them. This is why just about every 'dragonslayer' game and story is just so much rubbish to educated persons and a subject of derision and satire in the 'mainstream' world.
Except that this is meant to be an alternate reality where the rules and lore have been set for that to happen. It doesn't matter if you think it's for young children or not.
As I said. You begin the game pretty pathetic. You dont level up yourself.
You level up your armor as you hunt your way up the food chain...like any normal human in real life would actually do.
Also as I said...the armor is made of the monsters they hunt. As well as the weapons. They're fighting fire with fire.
Also, people have actually built weapons like that
, in reality, and showed that you can swing them around the way they do on the games.

Monster Hunter, at least the few before this last release have you pretty much using the huge weapons as unwieldy as you would have to in real life anyway. Lol
And as for science. I'm pretty sure your overestimating how powerful natural defences of animals, not just reptiles, are...i mean...really. We're where we are today for a reason. Lol
