Grillby has a pretty sad backstory, seeing as he’s been in Rapture since the beginning, and Asgore was the one who gave him his restaurant. When Rapture collapse the flame monster went into shock, then complete denial, and now lives in his own self induced fantasy world of past rapture. If you talk to him he will only recount stories of the far past, but to him it was like it was yesterday.
