For a moment he pauses, consumed by the slow rhythms of the music. While he moves forward optimistically he can't help but feel the weight of the present-the burden of knowledge-around him. He is mortally grounded but ethereally in another domain. With the duality of his existence, splayed before him in harsh light at the somber dissonances of the music he hears, the protagonist stops his advance, breathes, and looks inward...earthward. He cannot know what's in store but he does know where he's been.
