This is in scraps because it's incomplete.
I've posted it here to demonstrate a dead-simple method to do some species characterization in a typical furry story. In other words, you don't need to do tons of research or agonize over your characters to accomplish a minimal level or species characterization.
That said, this is my first pass (written in 2006) and I could do far more without really trying. For example naked mole rats are pretty much blind and Wee Mr. Winkle should be wearing coke-bottle-bottom glasses and constantly squinting at things. He should also note the odors around him as naked mole rats get around via odor and touch.
What I won't be doing is worrying about species-specific diets, non-human mating cycles, or any of that other stuff I usually like to explore in my stories. It's not appropriate for this story.
One final thing: Fur Will Fly! Forgive me, but I couldn't resist The very idea of a naked mole rat-monkey hybrid was too silly to pass up.

I should check in more often than once a week.
I wonder if I should finish this. I have other hotter projects. I think if I do rewrite I should send Wee Mr. Winkle to Afghanistan, or maybe make up a country name. Iraq is may be old news quite soon. At least we can hope.
