Another piece of art for my book.
Here we have one of the machines featured in it; the HAVOK-II combat drone.
For those who can't or won't read the text up top, here's the condensed version:
The Yuan Industries HAVOK series has long been the standard for military-grade robot infantry [“RI”]. The HAVOK-II is a dated but reliable model, built to last and designed for durability and firepower.
Rather than relying on unstable independent AI, HAVOK-IIs are controlled by a swarm-type AI program. The AI feeds information to each unit based on interaction with a human operator, who gives orders via a drone control transmitter. The operator decides how the drones should function, and the AI will make it so, innovating to some degree within the confines of its objectives. The HAVOK AI is programmed to deal with numerous combat scenarios, including direct action, hostage extraction, personnel protection, and explosive ordnance disposal. HAVOK-IIs should ideally be deployed in squads, which increases their overall effectiveness; each individual drone feeds information to the others via the AI link, boosting their awareness and capabilities. This allows for a very effective unmanned force deployment, eliminating human casualty factors.
HAVOK-IIs are designed to take and dish out a high degree of punishment. Their heavily-armored chassis consists of layers of bullet-resistant metals and shock-absorbing materials. Their weaponry consists of twin-barreled machine guns chambered in .30 caliber, fed by two internal helical cartridges. This gives a HAVOK-II an impressive fire rate and damage output. A single HAVOK-II can easily take on a platoon of human infantry, making Swiss Cheese of opposition as rounds flatten harmlessly against its armor. This durability allows HAVOK-IIs to operate in hazardous environments as well, from volcanic worlds to the vacuum of space. Fed by a back-mounted plasma cell, HAVOK-IIs can run for up to two weeks without support in the field. Their optics come equipped with night vision and thermal imaging filters, allowing them to track down foes even in the worst of conditions. These factors, coupled with the HAVOK-II’s inhuman appearance, will strike terror into the hearts of the enemy.
Despite all these advancements in quality, HAVOK-IIs are remarkably cheap and relatively easy to repair and maintain. Yuan Industries knows how important it is to have a reliable army in the field, and has manufactured a force that will exceed this expectation. If you need a force that is tailor-made for your goals, look no further than Yuan Industries’ HAVOK-II.
All you see is mine.
