tfw you keep forgetting you have to run setup.exe as admin and try disconnecting and reconnecting your hard drives multiple times in search of possible malfunction but then you realize that it's just windows 8.1 being a helicopter parent.

It was due to ransomware and malware. I'm fully aware of that particular path to take already. :)

Ah, the joys of tech, in order to "protect" you, the machine has pathways you as a user have to find, yet, hackers can just bypass these steps, forcing the average civilian to jump through hoops. So useful. (I hate win 10 for that)

When all else fails the nuclear option for the win! Orbital strike to clean that drive, though there is new malware that writes to portions of the hard drive now where the drive has can't reformat, so that if one does wipe the drive it reinstalls again later. Not common but it's a thing now, the assholes. ~_~

god I hate those pop up messages that say I need to run something under the admin account, I'm the only account! So I have to tell it to run as administrator.
