Silence has its own sound. Its own essence. In this culture of constant distractions and connectedness we often forget what it sounds like. Even in the most quiet of places nowadays, true silence is hard to come by, too often polluted by the sounds of far-off cars on a highway, the buzz of power lines, sirens in the distance. It seems like the best way to escape from civilization is to cover up its sounds with music rather than attempt the impossible of a physical quest for solitude.
This is the modern epitome of silence.
Nah. Really, I was just pressed for a title after I made this song. :P

Wrote a piano piece where the performer just doesn't play. It's 4 minutes and 33 seconds of silence.
Allegedly the inspiration was his realization that the quest for solitude was impossible; went in a soundproof room and still heard his pulse, so wrote the song where the sound isn't the piano, but the audience.
He'd probably get kinda mad that you figured out that drowning out noise with music is better than trying to ignore noise.
Great song, btw!
