Haha uhhh, for inspiration? Sufjan Stevens. I'm not kidding.

Something to do is search out the original artist behind the song samples used in filter house tracks (a quick search for "<song title> sample" usually gives answers), and find another song from that artist with a catchy hook or usable elements. Or take any old song and literally just take pieces from all over the place and constantly rearrange them until something falls together.

I like how it branches out.
