I looked through Flickr to see what kind of photos other people have taken with my camera, the Canon S2 IS. It seems that most of the shots that are "good" are macro. This camera does some nice macro shots but not a whole lot with scenery. That is not to say it can't do nice scenery shoots, no, not sayin' that at all. It just seems to do macro more better.
Anyway. A flower! Anyone know what it is? Location is San Bernardino Mountains, elevation between 4800 and 5000 feet.

When I see your photographs, I keep thinking 'almost but not quite' for some reason (except the picture of the sun shining through some trees, a few back; that was spectacular.) I'm sure, given that you're a very good artist, and I'm a wannabe photographer, that I can't give you lessons in composition (the phrase 'teach your grandmother to suck eggs' comes to mind), but I'd like to make two notes. The first is that the rule of thirds is as applicable, if not more so, to photography as to any other art. The second is that I do know what's 'wrong' with this particular picture, which is that the flower is on the left side, pointing left out of the frame.
