as everybody asked for it ;p
I could save it as a flash file but the quality is... well not really the best.
ALSO it isn't supposed to LOOP, it's a scene and supposed to be cut in after a zoom, and followed by a full screen scene, I just made it loop so it's easier to watch it ;p
2D Effect animation done in Photoshop and AfterEffects, just a small thing to be presented in a Demoreel ;)
probably be moved to scraps later as it's just a small part of something "bigger".. probably in hundred years.. XD

almost ;) no puppet tool at all, it's nice but the results tend to end up blurry, wings are created using a 3d layer ;)
I animated the leaves seperate, as they where much slower and far away from looping so I just slapped them on to the finished animation of the character, it's supposed to be behind and in front of the character in the final version :)

This loaded while I was looking away from the screen, just as I looked back, I heard a bit from the Beatles song "You Never Give Me Your Money" :
"One sweet dream came true... today
Came true... today
Came true... today...yes it did!"
It seemed to fit perfectly.

Oh wow, usually when people take a single drawing and try to "animate" it via manipulation like this is looks terrible, but this is fairly convincing. :) Good work!
The only bits I'd re-evaluate are, first and foremost, the tail - just the upper portion moving while the base stays so static really reveals the fact that you just warping the original image. It looks great on the mane because the entire mane is moving up to the neck, so you can't see a clear break line between what's moving and what's not like you can on the tail. If you were to make the entire tail blow in the wind (which it probably would anyway on a horse's tail) it would remedy this. The other thing is where the wing meets the body - when the wing moves, the gradient that blends it into the body moves with it and it looks a little jarring - maybe going back into each frame and re-adjusting the gradient by hand would help? But overall I think this is a skillful application of a technique that most people abuse/use incorrectly, so kudos to you!

Thanks a lot!
To be honest I really hate that tail XD
I had the whole thing "waving" at the beginning, but it looked a lot too "soft" like it's just a bunch of hair, what I aimed for was a position of the tail like a flag, where only the hair on the border moves, failed at that, now I think ...why the heck did I went for that position at all XD not sure if I'll have time to play around with that a bit more, it needs some work on a few edges ;)
concerning the wing, that is a 3D layer, only thing I could do to make the gradient on the bodypart look better is fading it out more...hmm.. but I guess you will still see a moving part on the body there.

Maybe if you place the wings a bit higher up? I think the thing that really gives it away is where it overlaps the shading on his deltoid. But of course I totally understand the need to just let well enough alone after a certain point - since, as you stated, this isn't meant to loop I doubt the viewer will have the time to notice that anyway, since in the first impression the much lovelier motion of the head and mane catches more of your attention. Good luck! :)
