The markings are like, scars from fighting seviper, right? so like, when they're born, are they totally white? (like you know how supposedly when vulpix are born they only have one white tail or something)

Well, I mean, since it's not PROVEN that that egg was laid by the cubone/marowak in QUESTION, it COULD. See, there could be like.. a secret place, or something? and the Marowak dies in labor, and the baby cubone dons it's mother's dead face, and then a big magical Pelipper STOCKPILE's it and sort of like a clam makes a pearl creates an egg shell around it, and delivers it.
