For just starting out, the coloring turned out really well! Even the ink is nice and crisp, something most artists struggle with when trying digital.

Thanks chillswitch! I don't have a tablet so the inking is done with the pen tool... takes awhile but gives nice crisp lines for sure. Thanks again for the feedback!

I didn't even get a tablet myself until recently. Shadow Dragon's piece was done entirely with a mini-mouse! :P Talk about hand cramps.

Yes, very ouch! XD The tablet helped relieve the discomfort, although when I'm feeling lazy some days I'll still occasionally just start working at something with the mouse again.

I was wondering how hard it would be to get used to one. It must be hard to look at the screen and not at what you are drawing right? And you can be so friggin precise with the pen tool!

It's definitely different. You CAN be very precise with it, but only with focus and practice (and the same can be said for working with the mouse). A large part of the digital inking process for me still involves a lot of cleaning up. At the same time it makes things a LOT more comfortable and it's much easier to work with more complex curves and shapes.

If you're really serious about your art, I'd definitely recommend one, but keep it simple. I bought a $100 tablet a few years ago, and it was terrible! I couldn't even use it, wound up chucking it altogether. The one I use now was only $30 and it works wonderfully. It didn't come with buggy software or a million retarded features. It's just -- BAM. TABLET.

Haha lol... "BAM. TABLET." I love how you put that. Well maybe with my tax return I'll buy one. What brand did you get? I hear that Wacom is the only way to go, but the cheapest that I've seen is around $70-$80 I think.

XD I've got a Wacom Bamboo (the retarded useless one was also a Wacom). But don't buy it straight from the site, it's more expensive that way. When you're ready for one let me know, I'll find you a link to a different source where you can get it at a discount. I'd need to find it again.
